with the stowa you get to customize whether you want logo or not, date or not, chrono function, sub-dials, auto or manual, COSC cert or not, etc. thats worth the wait.

the only thing that's missing is option for a diamond crown and a larger dial (e.g. like the Big Pilot), as they were required for legibility and operation with gloves.

I'll bite.

The Seiko automatic diver of your choice... plenty of options in the $200 range.

My personal pick was this nasty one on the right:

Mine too!

It's available just within your budget as this is the older model (and better looking IMO than the new one with its funny shark-tooth markers).  If you don't want a dive watch, then my very limited experience also includes a Seiko 5: there are myriad different styles and colours on the basic platform, and they're incredible value - a decent automatic watch that's frequently under $100.  Get a couple of different ones and enjoy them!

My "orange monster" and my son's Seiko 5 - total cost about $320, and both really enjoyed (Click to show)

It's a truly convoluted story, but my takeaway is that everyone was keen on the Breitling right up to the point where no one wanted it back.

I suppose it's one alternative to a winder.  Can't say it had crossed my mind before.

Thanks Cleav.  But be warned, the tie sits near the top of the SF sh!t list for tie colours:

Frills, you kidding! Why wouldn't anyone be interested?

Never seen her wearing a timepiece...

A. What would she wear?

B. What would we buy her?

Thanks Frilly.

Cheers Cleav.  Actually, my Anthony Cleverley Rourkes got the call today (last non-watch pic, I promise):

Rog, I'm not sure I'd go with the tie and PS together, altough the contrasts within the PS kind of make it work, but I have no personal objection to purple ties.  Just saying.  Also, I've a fine purple herringbone from Aquascutum that I bought years ago before meeting the Queen (of England, not Sports Illustrated).  I could tell she was digging it.

I appreciate the input, Mimo - you have a great weekend.
