good suggestion, that was what I was leaning to and I'd mentioned it to her a couple times recently as well as I've seen them going for like 89,000 yen here.

Is that a 'newer' model Rolex?
very nice. ive been tossing the idea of getting a new watch recently...between an oysterquartz and a speedy pro. Love the vintage look of that though
Nope!RJMan is that you?!?
ThanksReminds me that I have two new shirts that I've been meaning to get monogrammed. Also excellent watch as it doesn't bunch up your cuff.
Thanks... Yep, PAM112Beauty, is that 112?
Speedy Pro
Any 'cheap' (~$2000 used or grey market, whateva) but ubiquitous watches that one should keep on their radar?

Any 'cheap' (~$2000 used or grey market, whateva) but ubiquitous watches that one should keep on their radar? My wife asked me what I wanted for my 30th birthday coming up and I'd really like her to get me a watch, because it's one of those things you can hold onto... but I don't want her to spend much money. I might buy myself a more expensive watch later but well after, so that it won't overshadow a birthday watch she gets me. What I'd like her to get me is something classic and guaranteed to stand the test of time pretty much. While I'd like a Calatrava or something, it's gotta be affordable because we have other stuff we need to buy soon.
I already have a Sinn to wear daily and a JLC master ultrathin as dress watch, so something in between, can lean either way as long as it's a bona fide classic (high value/performance obscure brands like Sinn, et al are out)
Seamaster? If your Sinn is a pilot then a diver would be a good choice for some variation.
Hard to find 90% or better under 2k.
