Either a redial, or the hands are not original. If not mentioned in the listing, a yellow flag for replaced internal parts. If it is a redial there is something wonky about the Seamaster script, but I cannot put my finger on it. All in all, probably avoid. EDIT: Looked through the album. Caseback is replaced. It is definitely a redial, and a poorly done one at that. Strap is a POS. Avoid.

Most idiotic comment bar none of this watch thread. "Lowering the standard of watch wearers"? Who exactly do you think you are? NATO's are an acquired taste, that's for sure. But that doesn't mean they can look extremely stylish on certain watches. Also, they come in all shapes and colors these days, and enable a lot of color coordination with the rest of one's outfit. Get an education before spouting this nonsense. Your parents didn't teach you that, in order to be polite, one should say: "I don't like this thing" rather than "This sucks"?

Always cracks me up the number of people on this board with their ideas of "style", who at the same time seem to lack the most basic rules of behavior in society or politeness.

Looks like I can finally contribute to this thread - yay! Grabbed this Orient Star made in Japan from Seiya recently. I was about to pull the trigger on one of their Seiko's, but then I saw this and immediately liked it more. It's pretty much exactly what I've been looking for off and on for a few years: a classic 1950's era watch in the mold of the old school Omega's and Movado's that is automatic around 40mm and doesn't break the bank. Voila! It's gold plated which is fine with me. I also like the contrast stitching on the strap as it lends a slightly more casual feel to it.

Here are the specs: ORIENT STAR WZ0031DG Automatic 22J * Movement : Automatic and Manual winding * Hack function * Box Crystal glass * +25/-15 sec day 40h power reserve * 38mm with out the crown * Case, Bracelet: Gold plated * Water Resistance: 5 ATM * Lug Size 20mm

Well, my 1960s datejust, after having an over haul, was estimated at about $1,000, and my local jeweler (a family friend), sold a similar 1980s (in original box with original parts) for about the same. (prices in USD). Mine has a yellow gold bezel, and the 1980s had a gold bezel and gold bracelet. Based on the age, I can not tell you, but I could not see that watch going for less than a grand. With that being said, I do not know how the gold (white v. yellow v. rose) effects the price, if at all, and I do not how age effects the price. I personally prefer vintage datejusts, but that is me. My recommendation is to go to a jeweler and see if you can get an estimate, or call up a jewelry store and find out how much they would sell it for. Remember that prices on a used watch very widely, and with this economy, it could be worth less than it was a few years ago. Jeweler prices are a good place to start, but they also have to pay employees, rent, the original owner or manufacturer, so their sticker prices are a bit inflated.

I just collected my vintage Omega Constellation "Pie Pan" (cal 505), after waiting nearly 6 months for it to be restored!

Apparently there was a problem with parts, which had to be ordered from Omega directly. Apart from new hands and crown (the crown had been replaced when I purchased it), the case has been polished and the dial has been refurbished. I know refurbishments are generally frowned upon amongst WIS types, but the blemishes were quite significant when I purchased the watch (my fault - I was a novice at the time) and the refurbishment is excellent, although perhaps a little tricky to appreciate based on my crappy iPhone snap at work -
