Routine service on my Lange last summer cost me north of $2400, but that included shipping to and from Glashütte via Brinks.

Still, kinda pricey.

For what lug size? If 22, 24 or 26mm, you'll find tons of aftermarket strap makers on Paneristi's accessories corner.

Some Speedmaster too.

No, it's just raised above the bezel.

Check the Accessories Corner for classic calf straps. DON in Canada has been making very inexpensive ones for years, but the number of aftermarket offerings has grown exponentially. the WatchBoys, Taikonaut, Banda come to mind for value straps. You should go and have a look there

Those are some nice watches. I've never seen one in person, though.

There are lotsa sapphire-that-looks-like-plexi watches around - mafoofan is wrong. Sinn, Speedy, Panerai, Seiko, MkII - and in the aftermarket "mod" business there are even more. You can get a nicely domed sapphire crystal for just about any Seiko...

i think that luminor is my favorite watch, subtle yet extremely classy and good looking.

i am sure it has been posted, just to lazy to search back, for those that like the domed crystal; corum uses it a lot for the bubble series

I've also had good luck with panatime.com. Excellent service and great prices.

Never planned on buying another PAM, but I got this 177 at an irresistible price.

Also I returned the PAM 203 I wrote about earlier. A friend, who has collected PAMs for awhile, told me that the deal sounded too good to be true and many ADs would never recognize a solid fake. I decided to play it safe and returned the 203 (I'll be kicking myself if I find out if it was a gen).

I'm not exactly a Paneristo, but I must say this:

YOU...RETURNED...A...PANERAI...203?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
