Howard Yount and Epaulet Walt Slim trouser question

I'm currently looking for a slim quality trouser in line with the look of this -
http://us.burberry.com/store/menswe...7871-modern-fit-virgin-wool-flannel-trousers/

However $350 is a bit more than I'm willing to spend on pants.

I've done a bunch of research and I've come up with two brand names for quality wool trousers that are in my price range.

Epaulet Walt Slim and Howard Yount.

However, my main concern is that they may not be slim enough for what I'm looking for. (Haven't seen too many fit pics).

-My question is which trouser is slimmer?

-Are there any other brands in the $150-250 price range that are slim wool quality trouser?

Thanks!

Hi Ierso
I got these at £135 UK , tailored in Italy ( so nice slim legs ) from excellent Biella wool, and available online. They have the old English side adjusters which are a stylish touch as you don't need a belt, gives a much better line and also great for airport security ! I wear mine with a navy blazer or a pullover and definitely very comfortable for these fresher mid-season days. The quality is definitely there without the premium for the Burberry label.

Wow, I've never heard of those, but they look great. I see they offer sizes in increments of 2 and I wear most of my pants in a size 31.

Do you think I should size 30 or 32?

Also do they go on sale often?

Thanks very much for your reply!

I have the Epaulet Walt trousers in size 30. I am 5'10" and 145lbs, and they fit me perfectly. I can take a pic when I get home if you wish. I have no experience with Yount, unfortunately.

Thanks coldsalmon! That would be very helpful.

Most of the pics on the epaulet site, the models have their hands in their pockets and it gives the pants an odd look.

I forgot to take pics of the size 30s! Here's the size 31 dove grey hopsack trousers that I'm wearing to the office today. The size 31 is just a bit too big for me, I should be wearing a 30. I will try to take pics of the size 30 at home tonight. As you can see, I am not very good at taking photos.

When I was at the store, they said that they had just started offering size 31. They also said that the pants are designed to be tailored, so you have a little room in either direction to make them bigger or smaller.

Thanks very much for the fit pics. They look great from the side, but I see what you're talking about with needing to go down an extra size. They seem to bunch a tad at the waist.

You can get them tailored or sell em. It doesn't look like too much for a tailor.

Hi Ierso
Mark Stephen look is very sharp and fitted and so almost all trousers are flat-fronted .
I would choose the 32" as with the side adjusters you can easily adjust half an inch on each side if needed.
( and let out again after lunch ! ) or its a 10 mins job for a tailor to nip in the waist.
Flat-fronted in the most contemporary look but of course with no pleats personally I wouldn't go tighter.

Regarding SALE season, its July & January with selected promotions from time to time.
A lot depends on the vagaries of the UK weather - the greatest fault of "overstocking"

Clothes look great quality products but also the baggy shirt looks like there's a better body inside than we are led to believe ?
You maybe could go sharper/more fitted with both trouser & shirt ... But of course that's also a matter of personal taste ...

Your trousers in 30 inches are a good fit but a slim guy like you could be wearing a sharp, slim fit whatever you want to call it tailored shirt and look great.
Once you try and feel the difference I am sure you will never look back . These are two of my favourites both from Savile Row. Paul Smith is also very good for sharp fitted shirts.

I would avoid all those mail order firms with 4 for £100 or whatever as they have a one-block fits all regardless and universally "huge"

Thanks for the tips! Shirts seem to be the hardest thing, much more difficult than pants and suits. I have tried CEGO and Proper Cloth since I am in NYC, but I haven't really had the time to pursue it recently. I just replaced my entire shirt wardrobe, so I needed a bunch of non-terrible shirts fast; hence TM Lewin.

Anyhow, I hope that these photos help you out in your search, ierso. I am very happy with the Walk trousers. The hopsack cloth is very good even in hot weather.

Glad to be of help. Good luck with your trousers. Post some pics of your own when they come in.
