Advice for bespoke/made to order suits in London

I do normally wear Canali , Zegna or Pal Zileri suits and i would like to try the made to order/bespoke route for a special occasion.....
I do know my bespoke shoes makers/ artisans but i'm currently struggling with the in and out of the suit market...
I do need some unbuyist advice and inside information if possible....
Do you advise me to try Savile Row ,Thomas Everest and others ,to go to Brioni or to play safe with a Ralph Lauren purple label creation?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you on this matter....

To go to Ralph Lauren or Brioni would be a waste in view of the many choices and price ranges available for bespoke in London.

I would suggest some research on and off Savile Row to determine what look you like and your price point.

Does your endorsement mean you have had a completed suit from Merrion?

Not quite completed ... but nearly there and I'm pretty pleased so far. True, the real test will be in the finished garment. I've been pleased with the way he's handled the whole process and taken on board my comments. I'll let you know when I have the finished article ... From a thread on AAAC, I think Mr Rimby may have had a suit from him (but can't really remember).

I am in about the same spot as Tel Star. I have had two few fittings with Des in New York (not counting the initial measuring), which I wrote about on the London Lounge. So far, I have been pleased with the progress and Mr. Merrion's attention to detail and his general responsiveness and willingness to listen (and advise). The real test will be, as you suggest, the final product. I am hopeful that he will prove to be a very good additional option.

Just out of curiosity, what would you want to improve over your current suits, which are quality garments?

Canali, Zegna and Pal Zileri are OK but not that great.

Nothing fits like bespoke. Once you have a well fitting bespoke garment you realise that everything elese was just a mediocre approximation of good fit.

Jumping in here I myself am thinking of ordering a suit from William Field, a bespoke tailor in Washington, DC.

What holds me back is that I prefer slimmer fitting suits (like Canali) and most of what I have seen from Field is Alan Flusser type styling. He says he can make what I want but I wonder.

I do think that Canali ,Pal Zileri,Zegna and others are offering decent suits for an affordable price...
The Canali cut is excellent and i do enjoy the quality of the Zegna wool/cashmere collection...
I'm actually tempted by the bespoke route or experience as i have recently done with Tony Gaziano and Anthony Delos for my shoes....
I have been always attracted to Brioni to be honest but the price tag for ready to wear is too close to bespoke to satisfy my inner desire...
I have been reading about Timothy Everest and others from Savile Row but i'm still not sure about the route to follow...

He is very pro-forces which automatically appeals to me (there are pictures on his site of his son who is in The Parachute Regiment)
