Castangia?

Can someone give me an opinion as to the quality of suits made by Sartoria Castangia? My understanding is that these suits are produced under the Bergdorf name. Would these garmets be considered close in quality to, say, Borrelli or Attolini? V-

My personal opinion is that Castangia would be one notch below Attolini/Kiton/Borrelli/Brioni, but comparable to SaintAndrews, Barbera Sartoriale, and Belvest. They are very well made garments. There are several different grades of Castangia garments, with the Sartoria Castangia at the top; even within the latter, there may be different levels/degrees of handwork, e.g. hand-sewn vs. machine-sewn button holes. Poster A. Harris recently had a bunch for sale on e-bay, so he can give more specifics about how the Bergdorf garments compare to the various other Italian makes, except for Borrelli, which I don't think he has yet gotten his hands on.

Castangia does indeed have different levels of quality, exactly as described by Shoefan. Their top-level product is comparable, in terms of externally detectible details, to anything else on the market. Canvas front, basted lapels, handpicked lapels, handsewn buttonholes, handmade boutonierre loop, inside pockets faced in the shell fabric and more. A lot of Castangia jackets have pick-stitching along the shoulder seams, outside sleeve seams, back seams and darts as well, which is not standard even on Brioni and Kiton (although I have seen a few Kiton jackets with this additional detailing.) In addition, Castangia's handmade buttonholes are IMO the most precisely sewn on the market. The pants are well made too, with more detailing than almost anything else out there. There may be differences in the internal construction of the jacket of course, but I can't relate those without tearing them apart, or seeing them made, neither of which I have done. It's a wonderful product, definitely top-tier. But then again, I'm the one that is selling them, so I'm sure you would rather hear it from someone else
