Picking up a 7 in jet black later today.

How are you going to be able to do that after your three meat treat?

jk, Thanks for the info on the OS upgrade.  I'll think about it.  I probably need to start thinking about my next MBA :lookaround:

I presume the regular and not the plus? I debated it and know I could polish out any scratches with some rubbing compound, but still was too much of a pussy. Looks gorgeous in person though.

Yep, non plus. I had the plus in matte black but returned it because it's too unwieldy.

After playing with the jet black at the store, I succumbed. It's too sexy and the grippiness is 👌🏼

I have a thin case to put it in as well as a glass screen protector.

Why stick it in a case and ruin the sexy? Also, wouldn't grippiness be immaterial if it's in a case? I'd carry it around naked and cheat on my gf (not you - would never cheat on you) with it.

lulz

So when does Samsung start suing Apple for letting them copy smartphones and tablets and being an enabler for the whole thing?

Best line: 'He has already replaced it with an iPhone 7'

My trusty hackintosh MacPro is getting a bit long in the tooth. I would replace it with an iMac (which was what I had before but got sick of waiting for substantial updates, which hasn't changed) but am considering the rumoured MacBook Pro. Does anyone run a laptop hooked up as a desktop most of the time (with 2 monitors, HDD array, occasional Wacom, etc)? I use it mostly for 'the Cyber', MS Word and Powerpoint.

was rather disappointed by this release and subsequent announcements. priced like iphones, designed as if stuck somewhere between wanting to be an iphone and not, and worst of all, just two years of software updates which now include some pixel-exclusive layering rather than the pure android experience of yore. the nexus 5 can't upgrade to nugget or whatever it's called while even the iphone 5 can update to the latest ios, which is going back 5 generations now?

this is too bad as for work i would have considered either this or the note 7 but neither seems reasonable anymore.

Good god half the fucking iphone glass screen protectors on amazon are rampant with 5 star reviews from people who "have been offered the product for free or at a discounted price for an unbiased, honest review."

Get the fuck outta here. Can't trust nuttin.

Isn't a screen replacement about the same price as a screen protector now?

I doubt a screen protector and a new LCD are remotely close price-wise on a 7 (or a 6S or 6). That said, I'm still confused why the GF is getting jet black and using a case.

Maybe with AppleCare, which I don't have. The glass screen protectors I've been buying are less than $10 a pop and very high quality.

I always highly recommend them to everyone cause they've saved my phone from cracked screens multiple times by now.

Just knowing I have the jet black makes me happy ☺️

Besides the fact that I can't see or feel the finish, I'm using an ultra thin minimalist case that only protects against scratches and shit from everyday use. It's not meant to provide any drop protection.

Ah, with AppleCare. Makes sense. I've never broken or severely scratched my iPhone screens. Maybe I need to start leading a more exciting life or something...

I have yet to try a screen protector that didn't alter the feel of the screen. They often don't feel right to the touch and can alter the touch response slightly. There are some nicer ones on the market but I am not a fan.

Screens these days are fairly scratch proof anyways. As long as you are smart enough not to put the phone in the same pocket as your keys you should be fine. As for cracked screens, a solid drop will break the glass on your LCD no matter what you cover it with. The case you use, not a screen protector is what it providing the vast majority of protection you have against cracks.

Also matte black FTW! icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Which case are you using - if any?

I'm thinking of buying Apple's leather case. I've never used a case, but this thing is super sliperry. TI needs to talk me off the ledge.
