Thanks man.

Here is a picture I found of what might be the 2030 last on a chukka in a grey roughout.  I'll be open to anything grey and even brownish/grey...

...but I think this looks pretty nice.  A good alternative to all the service boots.

I believe a grey rough out chukka will be on  the list for consideration. We have been talking about one since the end of round 1

I would personally prefer to see it with a slimmer profile, more dressy sole.

I mean, it's really nice.

I found my grey swatches, and I think that the ebony essex roughout is a good approximation of that first boot - a brown with a black cast. I could definitely see that being a cool chukka. It is more subtle, imo than a latigo grey chukka, which would be cool too, but perhaps less "deep" in color.

Looks like we are going to have a voting showdown. Maybe we can make 2 chukkas. Remember, it will be 2-3 makeups, this round. Grey/brown, and burgundy seem to be getting the most attention right now. I am hearing a lot for a chukka, a bison service boot, and a burgundy service boot. So... we'll see.

Cheers,

Fok.

Oh cool, would be nice to see the swatches, the brown with black cast does sound good.

Bring it on!!!  :slayer:

In all seriousness though I do find that sole very chunky looking in relation to the toe box and side profile of the shoe.

I would also love to see the chukka or an oxford shoe in the Essex Tan but I may be in the minority...

I don't like the leather midsole. Better a supportive cork insole or a high quality removable leather insole. You want comfort in expensive boots and unpadded boots are hard on feet.

Hold on, let me tell Edward Green/John Lobb/etc. that they're doing their boots wrong.

that would be ok with me...please no toecap though. this one needs to look "clean" all the way. the wild leather should be getting all the attention, so bit too much extras.

see above...no pull-on tab please! these aren't high, so getting them on with or without pull-on tab should'nt be a major difference (when sized right!) ;)

Just want to comment that the gray roughout looks particularly good with the beige christy soles. not white, not leather, not dainite. If the gray is lighter without a brown tone, then white vibram soles will do.

I would prefer an Oxford to a Chukka as I see myself wearing the Oxford more. Here's my suggestion for the Oxford & let's see if there's enough interest:

Style - 145 oxford

Leather - grey or grey / brown or ebony essex

Last - 2030

Sole - vibram 2060 beige / sand

Mid Sole - natural

Lace - leather

Toe - unstructured

Tongue - ???

I would definitely go with the 2060 sole for this.

I will be doing this very shortly.  I've been holding off just a bit, since the first round of boots should be in soon, and so it would be great to have people vote with a very clear idea of what they'd like and their sizing.

Cheers,

Fok.
