NFL 2016-17 Thread - Page 59

I don't follow the Redskins closely, so I'm a little confused. When RGIII first came to Washington, there were so many stories about what a humble, down to earth, hard-working guy he was. But now I keep seeing stories about RGMe and about how he's all about swagger and needs to be taught humility (Whitlock). What the heck happened there? How did the narrative change so fast?

It started when he took endorsement deals before stepping foot on an NFL field. It escalated when people realized he is a bad quarterback who can't make basic reads.

RG3 has always liked to talk. A lot. His schtick is funny and charming when he is playing well and the team is winning, but becomes grating when neither of those things are happening. Add to that he came back too soon (possibly because he was worried about losing the starting job to Cousins), he is one of Snyder's pets, and he seems to pass blame to others when the team loses, and you have a recipe for team discord. Honestly, I think the benching has as much to do with mollifying the locker room as it does with Shanahan's opinion of Griffin's play.

You are correct, but the difference with the Manning colts and other playoff teams who have rested players is twofold: 1. They've won. There's a certain sense of having earned the right to sit stars in the NFL, because you've won. 2. The playoff teams who've rested stars have also done it in order to win games this season - playoffs and superbowls. It's a very important cultural dynamic to the NFL.

As Al Davis when he was alive and many coaches of today will tell you, in the NFL there is 1 winner and 31 other losers.

It's impossible to know the real reason for not playing Griffin. That said, the reasons given to date just don't fly.

Worst FG snap ever by Miami. Someone get a gif of the ball hitting fields in the face.

Captain Kirk strikes again! Maybe the Skins can get a first-round pick for him.
