I think this is the same side piece from a couple years ago… seems they've been dating a while. There are plenty of pix of them together… I believe her name is Ricki something.

Lol they had the video since April. What a joke.

Based on what? Are there reports he is stepping down?

Roger Goodell was just trying to protect the Ravens. Isn't his job to protect teams? The Ravens were on their knees begging him to give Rice a lenient sentence.

Why isn't their more of an outrage with the Ravens? They probably saw the video first.

Every team is going to beg for a lenient sentence. It's the commish's job not to play favorites.
It's also the commish's job not to bring a firestorm of shit on his league. That's more important than a single team or player. Adam Silver had the leadership skills to realize this (and indeed, I'd expect that the leader of a tribe of monkeys would, also. But not Roger). And at this point I bet the Ravens wish he was stricter

Though a genius at bringing revenue in, Goodell has made a mess of managing the NFL's reputation. This season is going to be dominated by this story (not the Rice angle but the NFL's culpability).
I think you guys are getting caught up in this too much. By the third/fourth week of the season, this story is forgotten. At the end of the day, money talks and the NFL will still be bringing in cash by the boatload. No sponsors are boycotting, no fans are boycotting. The media and some players are calling for Goodells head but unless someone has him on tape saying he doesn't give a shit about this Rice issue, he will still be the commissioner by the end of the season. And Rice will play again this season or get a fair amount of the money from his contract, he just has to sue the league/Ravens.

He has weathered homicides, "bullying", concussions, drugs, etc. the list is endless. This will all blow over in a few weeks until another controversy arises to take its place
post #1843 of 4980
There would have been much more outrage had people been expecting Rice to be a bigger fantasy stat producer.
The only way I see this story really getting much worse is if we actually find out that Goodell had seen the video in question. Otherwise, I think it will eventually blow over. I also find it absurd that people are directing more outrage towards the NFL than the prosecutors who probably had more access to things like the video and chose to let Rice off with a slap on the wrist. It's really not the NFL's job to act as a supplemental criminal justice system in a broad sense for off the field issues, escially in cases where the stakes are so high and the NFL is not exactly known for providing due process in its investigations.

...and now we have Adrian Peterson indicted on Child Abuse charges.
