Just checking in on some things. I've got responses to a few of your questions:

Museum Calf
They're looking good on the new supplies, so if we want to put together an order than a Nov-Dec may still be realistic. However, we'd have to do this with the understanding that it might get pushed out to January-Feb.

Now, for the first makeup concepts, how about we try to put together a shell shoe and a non-shell boot? A few guys have mentioned dark cognac (essentially cigar) as a prefered shell color, and I've blocked out enough for 8 units. There's been some talk of a double monk, so we could start with that.

At the moment, there isn't enough shell cordovan available to do a six-unit run of a high boot, but we can certainly do that in a calf, suede, or scotchgrain. That - along with the shell shoe - could be delivered in early November. Or we can plan one out with museum calf as long as everyone understands the potential for a delay.

i'd be interested in a museum calf MTO and the potential delay isn't an issue. for calf, i'd prefer a shoe over a boot. maybe a double monk?

Mike,

Any timeframe on when this would be doable, because I'd be down in a second.

sorry to be repetitive, but I posted a few ideas that are likely several pages back now (depending on setting, including a couple of golden museum calf shoe ideas and a Galway-esqu mixed leather boot. For the latter, I'm partial to oxblood and black scotchgrain, but maybe antique cognac and brown scotchrgain would be of more interest.

I don't mind waiting for museum calf.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Golden museum calf sample.

Could be an Adelaide balmoral (F-last, I think).

Could be a derby (F-last).

2. 3-eye derby in golden museum calf (U-last).

3. Mixed leather boot.

I'm thinking something Galway-esque in oxblood and black scotchgrain. Cap toe. F-last. Double leather sole.

How about this boot in the antique calf similar to Mike's double monks?

The ability to offer this in off-kilter colors like a dark green would be great! They can do gorgeous burnishing on it too.

Okay, all of this sounds great!

I got the pricing. Most shell shoes would be $1100, Shell Double Monks would be $1150. Lasted Shoe trees would be included as a bonus for doing the MTO project.

Calf/Scotch Boots are going to be about $950, probably a bit more with Museum Calf, but that's tough to finalize until they have the new suppliers.

Shell Boots would fall in the $1600 range, but the main issue is that Vass cannot commit to doing a 6-unit run of them. So I could coordinate an individual MTO for anyone who's interested, but a group buy is problematic - at least for this season. I can probably cover enough shell to do TWO shoe styles though of 6-units each though.

So here's a few ideas that we can summarize:

Shell Shoes in Dark Cognac Cordovan

Cognac Shell Double Monk
F Last
Double Leather Sole
Goyser Stitch or no?

Cognac Shell Alt Wien
Budapester or 3636 Last?
Double Leather Sole or Vibram Commando?
Goyser stitch or no?

Boots

Split Toe in Dark Brown Museum Calf (darker shade than my double monks - Mr. Vass prefers this shade for boots)

Mixed Media Boot in Scotch and Calf
Love the Austerity Wing idea here. We could go with a balmoral design (like the Greeley) or do a blucher design like the whiskey shell one from the factory.

Anyone interested in a dressy style? We can certainly also float a captoe bal or something in the U-Last.

Austerity brogue

Double monks

Anyone interested in an austerity brogue or double monk in light museum calf as an MTO idea? I might be interested in the austerity brogue blucher boot concept in dark museum calf that was also suggested.

Those DM's are gorgeous. The more I look at these pics, the more I want them. Even the buckles look fantastic.

I would still love a plain toe or NST boot in that museum calf

The more I see those DMs the more I like them. Mike asked about Goyser stitch, so I'll vote no on the DMs. Might look goo on a different model, but I don't think the Goyser stitch would suit the monks as well as it would an Alt Wien or something like that.

I'm still not 100% sure on sizing, so I'd have to really nail that down before I can commit I an $1150 (gulp) shoe. I'm thinking the equivalent of a 12C (which is one width up from my Barrie size). What would that be in Vass sizing? 45.5E?
