Anybody know a surprisingly good price/quality tie maker? I'm looking, essentially, for the neckwear equivalent of a Target Merona v-neck or a Costco Kirkland trouser. I'm fairly ignorant about truly nice ties (my BBs and Polos seem fine by me) and I'm not in a position to be spending three digits on ties, but I would like to find something that will open my eyes a bit and show me how inadequate my current collection really is. (why oh why do I do this to my credit card??)

I don't think they'll be the epiphany you're seeking, but I have a couple of Fabio Ferretti ties I found at Marshalls that I consider an outstanding bargain at $12-$15. Good silk, good heft, nice keeper. Much nicer overall than my Polos and BBs.

I feel that Andrew's Ties are great value for the price. Also, TM Lewin are a good value when on sale.

I was looking at ties in a store recently and I couldn't tell the difference between a cheap one and an expensive one. They were all made of silk, they all appeared to be put together exactly the same way.

That's great then, just buy in the patterns/colours you like and you're set! Don't get into the trap of sevenfolds etc...

Try Henry Stag (www.henrystag.co.uk) they are great quality (same as or better than Thomas Pink/Dunhill) but a bit less expensive.

Buy one quality tie - you won't regret it!

I never considered them, but maybe I should.

Nice selection, really soft silk, and you're going to have a hard time beating the price. The only thing that I don't like is the lining, which is no better or worse than most other sub-$70 to $100 ties.

Isn't that the subcontractor for older Brioni ties ?

The TJ Maxx carried ties suggested do seem nice. Also take a look at Land's End.

Of course, one can also shop end of season sales, and 'as new' thrift ties can be turned up with just a little work.

You must be thinking of Italo Ferretti. Not sure if there is any relationship between them and Fabio Ferretti.
