looking older

Thread Starter
I'm 18 yet bcuz of my skinny frame and lack of facial hair i look like i'm 12. i was wondering if there's ways (clothing, etc.) to look older bcuz imo people are disrespectful to me bcuz they think i look like a kid therefore i will be immature. I was considering getting glasses (fake lenses tho since i don't need glasses) but i'm not sure now?

any advice? thanks in advance!

can you grow facial hair? it helps in most situations. if you already dress more "mature", perhaps it's how you are carrying yourself? standing tall and looking people in the eye goes a long way.

A well fitting sportcoat will make you look much more authoratative. Not using words like "bcuz" will help also.

I think this is key to having people treat you with a little more respect. It's more important than how old you look to a large extent, because rude people will be rude to you no matter what you look like (the only exception being if you look like you can physically harm them). The most effective technique is putting people in their place, which will come from self confidence/intelligence, IMHO.

I wouldn't try to look older maybe more mature. What kind of haircut do you have? Do you have braces? Any jewelry?

Couple things I find immature: downloaded ringtones, never taking off mp3 headphones, old sneakers, hemp necklaces, t-shirts with huge logo i.e. the new polo line.....

Confidence, Posture, clothes, in that order.

Facial hair usually is a dead giveaway that a young kid is trying to age himself, especially with those sideburn spikes running down the face.

I'll second the suggestion to work out/get muscles particularly if you're thin or small.

Sportcoat, real shoes, clean clothes, upright posture, a sudden look in the eye and an easy smile, have a cigar, you're gonna go far, you've got to be trusted by the people you lie to so that when they turn their backs on you, you get the chance to put the knife in... err, sorry.

I should stop posting after I finish making my julep.

+1, and be sure to glue the scraps to your face. You can find some good instructions here.
