My first pair of Nudies (I searched I swear)

What's going on fellas? This is my first post, and I'm sorry it has to be about denim because I have seen sooo many newbie denim posts. I have done a lot of searching but I am getting lost in a lot of denim lingo, and having a hard time finding the answers to my questions.

So here it goes. I just got my first pair of Nudies (Bootcut Ola) after I returned a pair of 7's because of a lot of stuff I read on this board. Anyway...I got the best fit in a 34 but they are entirely too long. I was thinking about getting them hemmed but I know after the first wash after six months they do shrink. Do you guys have any advice or suggestions for my current situation?

Thanks a lot in advance

nudies are sanforized denim so your olas shouldn't shrink more than about .5 inches in length when you wash them. hem them, especially as they're bootcuts and you don't want to be dragging your hems all over the place for the next six months. if they shrink more than you'd like them to, you can always stretch them out when they're wet and they should be totally fine.

Don't forget Ola stretch like crazy, so go as tight as you can (or plan on soaking them periodically)

Get them hemmed but maybe about an inch longer that you would normally want them, otherwise you minde end up doing something like this...

Thanks all the replies fellas. I'll have them hemmed tomorrow.

Bonanz that is probably one of the funniest pictures I've seen in a while.

Does anyone know if Earnest Sewn denim is meant to go through the same process as Nudies? Thanks in again.

I did the 'shrink to fit' thing with my nudies, wore them in the shower. Might want to do this before you get 'em hemmed, to give you a pre-tailor headstart on the shrinkage.

They're not stf jeans... Any dry denim wll go through the same change as a Nudie pair, but at varying degrees. I suggest returning the Olas if you want to see a lot of change, as they are produced with denim which does not seem to fade very well. They are not very bootcut, either. The Regular Ralph is a much better option as far as the fade is concerned. You may want to look into some other brands found at blueingreensoho.com and selfedge.com. IMO, the japanese selvedge jeans that they sell are the better value in the long run, and yield a significantly better fade.

Johnny, as far as i'm aware the Earnest Sewn are sanforized too and experience little shrinkage.

The Earnest Sewns I have are all made with a very tight weave and seem to have a very hard finish (Line Dry model). I've washed/air dried one pair a couple times now and they have neither shrunk nor stretched. My Nudies seem to shrink about an inch in length and a half inch in the waist after wash, but usually stretch back a bit after wearing.

I just realized that my nudies are super used dark. Does that mean they are already washed? Will they still fade according to my wear? I am kind of confused now. HELP ;\\

thanks

They will not fade and they are pre washed.
