So I  ordered a Talarico umbrella...and it arrived today

damn..it is fantastic. a piece of art.

i'm thinking of buying another one or two to keep in different locations.

maybe i'll post some pics later.

any chance that a short Talarico umbrella will be made? one that is more convenient for travel...that could fit in a suitcase etc.

Been eyeing one for awhile. Which color did you get?

Tiger Hickory with the Navy and Red Pindot Canopy...

The thing about it is that the solid hickory shaft is such a thing of beauty...and you can only really tell when the umbrella is fully opened...

The canopy material is also beautiful...clearly a lot of work went in to making this...

NMWA is top-notch across the board.

Here's my list:

Farnese Black soft calf "tubo" tubular dress belt

This is my go to belt. The Black Saffiano leather dress belt is pretty nice as well.

Porter by Yoshida Black "Booth Pack " 3-way duffle bag

Three bags became one. Phew!

ts(s) Navy dobby cotton hooded long jacket

I've worn this quite a bit. Great texture and weight. If it rains, pick a different jacket.

Vass   Oxblood U-cap Budapester derby

I love these. Waiting for them to arrive!

Sartoria Formosa  Navy birdseye single breasted suit, 11/12oz wool

I don't actually own this suit. I' d like to tho :-)

Cheers

Really? damn...

Well...I guess I'll be biting the bullet.

Nonetheless, so many good things to choose from.

I'd just like to say this is a really cool contest idea. I've been familiar with NMWA for a while now, but always just used it to check out the brands I was already very familiar with. This contest made me look more openly to new brands I may not have checked out otherwise, and I found some *very* cool stuff in the process.

Why they were slept on (and why they shouldn't have been) (Click to show)
The Prussian Blue suit is probably out there on one too many dimensions for a lot of people. Cotton suit, yes. Interesting blue, yes. But both!? I already have a lot of blue in my wardrobe, so I definitely wouldn't mind branching out into more of the color's unusual shades.

---

I think the idea of men's scarves being worn for purposes other than keeping the cold at bay is a little alien to a lot of folks, myself included. However, I'm moving to Texas, and thick wool scarves are a bit much even in winter.

---

Why were these pants slept on? Because the world is a messed up place. Also, perhaps people associate brown with fall and linen with S/S. I always think about trees when I think about S/S. And trees have trunks. So it must be something wrong with the world.

Seriously.

Those pants are amazing.

---

People are a lot more comfortable with blue stripes than green, and for good reason. But I think sometimes we get carried away purchasing staples--I have 6 shirts with some sort of blue stripes--that we forget other options are out there.

---

I am at a loss when it comes to this jacket. I hope that doesn't knock me out of the running. I'm trying to put myself in the shoes of someone who sees this and doesn't want to buy it. Maybe they think the texture from the herringbone and the texture of the linen is too much. Perhaps the color is too unusual for them. I don't know. It's a beautiful jacket. The green and copper mesh perfectly together. Makes me think of museums.
