Can folks comment on sizing the Formosas? I've been holding off on any suit purchases to get some custom made, but these prices are approaching irresistible.

they are on the slim side, classic italian. i am most often a 52/42 sometimes a 54/44 and had to go with the 54/44 for mine. they are a tad loose in the gut at the 54, but look great. one i had nipped the other i left. also, they have 2 fits. i forget which one i got. but if you kind of a tweener you should aim for your higher range ime.

Frack, I'm going to get in a shit ton of trouble if my wife see's another NMWA. Why couldn't have you guys told me this was coming when I ordered the vest. Sneaking multiple orders in to the house in one box is so much easier. What to do, Heschung Malko's, what to do...

Also, there shouldn't be any Formosa stock left after this sale. Buy them now.

Ditto re: Formosa suit sizing advice. Would be much appreciated. Also, out of curiosity, why isn't there a corresponding 50 athletic. Seems the sizing jumped from 50 regular to 52 regular/athletic.

The suede bals are on the U last. I am a size US9.5D (slightly narrower than medium), and EU42.5 fits me pretty well in U. Some people size up 0.5 size in U, so YMMV. Depends on how tight the P2 is.

The Formosa posted measurements are dead accurate online so if you can compare your best fitting suit jacket or sportcoat to them, you should be able to dial in a really good fit.
The only difference between athletic to regular is the chest to waist drop. I can go with either a 52 or 54 depending on the maker, and went with a 52R Formosa and just needed minor alterations - sleeve and pant shortening and a touch of clean up to the triceps area of the arms.

I told myself to stay away from the site...didn't happen. Just grabbed the Oliver Spencer Navy Portland Blazer. If the Formosa in my shoulder size was "1 longer, I'd have one of those two. Great prices.

I know it has holes under the armpits, but does a Mackintosh breathe? I had a Barbour once and hated it because it was so hot.

Thanks for the sizing comments! The problem for me is that the measurements of my better fitting jackets match up with 48 and 50, depending, but the shoulder measurement on the 50 seems too big. Maybe I should consider that a blessing rather than a problem, since 48 is sold out in the models I'm interested in.

Macs definitely do not breath. Neither water nor air is getting in there. You kind of want that in a rain coat, but I do factor it into my decision whether to wear it when there's just a drizzle.

I cannot fathom how not being able to buy a Formosa suit at this price could be considered a blessing. puzzled.gif
