Based on the listed dimensions of the bag and of a 15" MacBook Pro, the bag should be able to fit a 15" laptop easily. I would be concerned about the pressure the weight of the laptop puts on the bottom of the bag. The bag seems better suited for carrying around an iPad or other tablet computer.

Oh I carry my computer, books, travel toiletries, chargers, etc... in mine.  I wouldn't be worried about the sturdiness - it is pretty serious.

I'll probably wear these with a sport coat pretty often. Usually lighter colors, similar to how @dieworkwear suggested using blue pants in a recent blog post

ROTA S/S'17 PRE-ORDERS

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Just like last season, here's an opportunity to order your size and in a color you want.  This time, we're showing a greater range of colors for each fabric quality, including a bunch we won't be carrying off the rack - to give greater choice to those who know their Rota size and are interested in more fabric options.

Like for fall, we are also offering the option to order your trousers in the new style that we developed with Rota : higher rise, flat front with side-tabs.  Front rise is 28 cm on that one vs 26 cm on our regular mid-rise belt-loop trousers.   We won't be offering pleated options for these pre-orders.

Note that this is not MTO or MTM : we're not taking orders with sizing modifications, different zippers, etc... only standard sizes in two models.

high-rise side-tabs trousers (Click to show)

All prices are net of the $40 tailoring discount, and PREORDER15 will give 15% off at checkout.

We're offering 9 fabric types in several colors each

Lightweight crunchy wool - a NoMan classic from our first summer season

"High performance" S120 wool - highly recommended by the Rota family, strong positive customer feedback, travels really well

[FYI: we prob won't have any of those OTR]

Navy/blue micro-tooth S150 wool -  for those looking for a little more pattern, very soft and pleasant hand

Wool, silk, linen mix  -  we had the green in store, fantastic fabric with great character

Irish linen -  must-have for any wardrobe.  We had the tan and (no longer available) tobacco this season

Cotton twill (not garment-dyed)  -  always the most comfortable option for dress trousers

Cotton/linen seersucker -  Note that the swatch is pre-wash, so doesn't rumple like the end product will (see pants pic for better sense).

Imagine this with high waist and side tabs :inlove:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Garment-dyed cotton canvas -  great texture

Garment-dyed cotton/linen -  Great "streaky" texture. We had the sand and tan this season

(note that only the top swatch has the correct weave/texture - other two swatches are there just for color)

DEADLINE FOR ORDERS IS 7/28 AT MIDNIGHT

A reminder that today

is the last day to pre-order

the Rota trousers you want

Gentlemen. Your opinion please.

Besides grey, which Rota pair(if any) would you go with to wear with this casual sport jacket. It is 100% linen.

Would the petrol blue wool/silk/linen clash? I know blue with blue doesn't work but it appears that the petrol is a different/funky kind of blue.....

Can(should) you wear any type of wool trousers(not smooth) with a linen or even cotton SC?

I currently have the oatmeal linen Rotas but I don't know if they go with the above SC.

Thank you.

Something closer to white / lighter than oatmeal, like sand or cement.

Thanks...

The only Rota trousers I see in those colors are the garment dyed cotton/linens. Those are some heavy weighted trousers at 370g.'s, yes?

12 oz isn't heavy. Cotton and linen wear cool also

Also the cotton twill 320g fabric.    None of those are particularly heavy - they're mid-weight for cotton and cotton/linen.

It's going to be more Tanino - baby calf, leather, canvas and a snuff suede that is lighter than the previous one - really nice color.

Darn, was hoping for pre-orders for half sizes and a restock of the linen!

Thank you Greg and veni.

I currently have a pair of cotton/linen trousers that resemble the cement color. But I had not tried them on with the linen SC before and Greg you were so right. Great match!

I guess I was trying to determine the versatility of the Petrols as those W/S/L fabrics really grabbed my eye but I'm not a good color matcher as of yet.

The majority of my casual shirts are various shades of blue, most with patterns. I guess I am curious how folks will be wearing the petrols, or any of those "patterned" W/S/L trousers.

Could you get away with patterned shirts or only with non patterned light color shirts and a lighter non patterned S.C. if you wore one?

Thanks so much.
