ok wait i am a bit confused, actually. 52 for me is great all around, except the waist band is too big (by like, an inch or more). otherwise i dig how they fit in the hips, thigh, knee, etc.

i wouldn't want the casual ones any bigger in any of those areas. if the casual-er ones fit bigger in all those areas, but are just tighter in the waistband, as long as there is room to let the waistband out in case they're too tight, sounds like maybe 50 is what i should get.... ?

@mossrockss

Seems we are similar there. I also take 50 Formosas and 52 Eidos suits (whereas the pants there need waist trimming).

Rota wools in 50 have a 90cm waist, fine for me, thigh a bit slim maybe (I row a bit).
Rota cotton or cotton/linen in 50 have a 88cm waist, bit too slim, and letting out cotton/linen can lead to visible old seems, hence I size up to 52 (waist 93cm) and trim the waist a bit. Thighs, knees are then still wider than 50 wools, though. Hope this is clearer. Sorry. smile.gif

PS: If you take 52 wools and trim the waist by 2-3cm, then 52 cotton/linen should be pretty good for you.

When visiting NYC, popped into the Lanvin flagship, and they had a %100 Vicuna SC (solid navy and made by Caruso) for $20k.

So when going Vicuna, I think any discount is worth exploring biggrin.gif

If you have the cash to spend $20K on a SC, getting a discount to something like $18K probably isn't going to make or break the purchase.

Errr I was thinking something closer to $2-4K. And not a 100% Vicuna cloth. But a blend.

That said, NMWA already has great offerings. They don't need Vicuna.

Now that would be a good discount!

in my limited experience, folks that tend to be able to spend $20k on a SC are incredibly diligent about deals. I guess it depends if you are Paris Hilton or someone who has made their own money. But most of the wealthiest people I know are also the cheapest ;)

You wearing that lightweight Fox flannel?  That ought to be on the Formosa list for a coming season, love that suit!

I agree with your observation. That is also how they stay super wealthy.

You make a good point. Clearly I do not have the funds to buy a $20K SC...or even a $2K SC for that matter smile.gif

So that was your jacket I saw, I should have guessed. Shoulders look great.

As a side note, anyone who has done Inglese MTO, have the shirts come heavily fragranced? My senses were just bombarded.
