Thanks for putting up with all the questions. Bummer about the suits.

Nah man, Kyle is wearing a 48 only because that is the sample.  He said he would normally get a 46 in those.

Re: the Field Jackets - are the 550 gram fabrics the heaviest? How do they compare to the "medium weight" fabrics?

Just in general, 550 gram fabrics are fairly heavy.  A 650 g fabric is a heavy Harris Tweed, just as a point of comparison.  I'll stfu now.

Correct - both the LP double-faced and the herringbone.  They're similar in weight to the grey herringbone we had this season.

The medium weight ones (grey melange and blue donegal) are in the mid-300g area

greg - is the grey melange herringbone much darker than the grey herringbone db overcoat on the webstore? more like charcoal?

A little help with the Eidos Field Jacket sizing. I have a 52 in the spring/summer 2015 blue hopsack and it fits incredibly well. Perfect actually. I could not wear this over a sport coat though, nor do I want to.

I'm *loving* the 'Brown/grey thick basketweave Loro Piana wool field jacket, 550g wool', and wanted to hear from anyone who owns both the summer and winter weight options in the field jacket.

Would I need to size up to a 54 to account for the heavier fabric? Again, this would not be to wear over a sport coat, but rather just typical fall casual. It just seems like the 54 is quite a bit larger in the sizing charts. Wondering if Eidos already takes fabric weight into account...

Any help would be appreciated!

No need to size up. If you are not going to layer then stick with your summer size (52).

Greg has already weighed in (pun intended), but, as in many things, it depends on your vantage point.  Dealing mostly with tweeds, if you go to Scotland, a 16 ounce cloth is considered "middle weight".  That is 550 gsm.  Just to give another point of reference, at about 8 ounces (300 gsm), you are transitioning from very lightweight denim into your chambray weights.  On the other side of the scale, traditional wool melton used in naval peacoats was 32 ounces, or 1100 gsm.  Tech clothing is often about 200-250 gsm for the winter, but in the summer, often under 200 gsm for summer weight clothing.

For a change of pace entirely, some fun photos of Inis Meain. We asked our photographer to shoot some of the MTO sweaters that you guys had made up, since she was around the day we got the boxes.
