Could those new Luigi Bianchi coats withstand a Boston/New York winter? Based on the description I would guess no, even with layering.

Which one? The Casentino coat is quite warm. I think it would do for anything short of a driving snowstorm if worn with gloves, earmuffs/hat, and scarf.
