Anybody else buy the Big John RARE jeans? If so, did you size wash them immediately, or are you putting some wear in first?

razl and tdude, thanks, guys!!!! just grabbed a tie thanks to ya'll. :)

after seeing that fit pic with the calabrese, and remembering that the rust version was sold out, and then seeing that the navy was sold out as well, i had to snag the light blue version before that was gone too.

Always soak unsanforized jeans before wearing or hemming. Don't listen to the APC canon which forbids washing of jeans ever.

Soak in hot water for 20-30 mns, let them dry hanging in shower, put them on when still moist, let them finish drying on you, don't sit on the white sofa = STF win

This is my usual MO with unsanforized denim, however that previous experience has always been with Levis 501 shrink to fits. I've also found some advocates who say to wear the jeans for a bit first before soaking to stretch them. I'm not a denimhead, but I figured there may be a few lurking in the thread.

This however is a deviation from my normal, which is to let them soak an hour. Does Big John have a recommendation on this? I went looking online but found Nada - though the actual store shows up under a google search of "Big John RARE shrink to fit" - something you might want to know (in case you intend for others to be able to get access or not).

Geez, thought I could just buy one...next morning, called them up and snuck another one in the box. Now I see this...too much good stuff.

FYI, you have "Rendenbach" spelled wrong on the site under the Vass descriptions. No biggie, just thought you might want to fix it.

Well I'm certainly not an expert so I will defer to experts and get you an answer from Big John. My own experience with soaking is that you don't need more than 1/2 hour and that after that it tends to release more indigo, which is not something I am particularly looking for.

Thanks mate. I'm already 37 minutes in and will probably just split the difference at 45. However, if Big John has a reco it might be cool to put up on the page for the jeans - I believe someone said something similar about "editors notes" or something earlier.

Also, that Linen-birdseye is the shiznit.
