Really? The Bigi ties don't sell as well? I think they are the best ties you offer, price/value.

Maybe I will buy some today. Perhaps it is probably less due to width, and more due to Drakes being more recognizable in the iGentry, and Calabrese being inexpensive.

As a tall guy, I am tying pretty far down the tie and I already feel the Bigi 9s are producing a knot on the skinny side, so I worry about the 8.5. But greg, you gotta make the right business decision and I admit this is one thing I am super picky about.

What about a 9x155 and 8 or 8.5x150, keeping the inventory really low on the bigger 8ntil you got a sense, or some sort of pre-order to reduce risk?

My bigger problems with the Bigi selection is that I haven't loved a lot of the patterns or colors.

Though I should pick up that block stripe.

So my questions are :
(1) for those who already buy Bigi ties from us: do you prefer 9 or 8? Would you still get them if 8 cm?
(2) for those who don't buy Bigi ties from us: is the width a reason? Would you prefer 8 cm?

I buy them explicitly because they are 9. Will stop buying them if they are not. I simply don't ever reach for my narrower ties.*

*except in casual situations, when I like the narrower untipped cashmere Calabreses.

I like the Shetland - may pick that one up. And I am a huge fan of the navy with discrete copper pattern. They have some really nice CBD prints / stripes. You are not much of a CBD dresser anymore though.

To be completely honest - I think that 9cm ties should be worn with Formosa / Eidos jackets. The Drakes look nice with Cantarelli, or jackets with smaller lapels, but 8cm looks smaller with the big, sweeping lapels that are coming back into style.

I agree, most men right now probably want 8cm - but I think the tide is changing. And it is great to have even one option for 9cm ties.

Yep, that's really been the issue for me and Bigi. My wording is probably off, it's not that I don't like the patterns, it's they don't work for what I wear or will have made up in the future for the most part. I'm CBD a few times a year, and I have more than enough ties to cover that.

Drakes probably has most of my favorite patterns on the NMWA site, but really, I just don't love the 8cm width. They tend to look skimpy with the lapels I wear, which I can live with, but I also feel they are a bit skimpy at the dimple. Like Patrick, I just tend to not reach for them in my drawer. So unless I just adore a pattern, I tend to skip on Drakes.

I haven't been around the forum much lately (life in general = challenging) but I'm glad I checked in!

Want to say most of the ties on my WishList are Bigi. The rest are Post-Imperial and a few Tyt. I'd be buying them if paintings were selling well but the art market in general seems to be down from what I've heard from other artists. No big surprise there, but even the holidays were really tough.

Good news is I'm in the market for a new tie or two soon once I finally have a chance to pick up a suit and blazer that were paid for long ago! Hopefully this weekend I'll get them.

I definitely prefer the 9 cm, would be fine with 8.5 cm. 8 cm's certainly not a deal breaker if I love something, but like Patrick I've come to find that i just tend not to love how my narrower ties look with my suits/jackets and body type (actual or aspirational).
But for your evaluative purposes, I'm only a very occasional tie purchaser these days. I only wear a tie about once a week for work at my current gig, and about the same for social stuff. After decades of being a daily suit wearer I have far more ties than I "need", so I'm really only an impulse buyer when something really grabs me.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I have 1 Biggi tie. It ties a great knot, I like the patterns on NMWA's site, but I haven't bought any others because it's just a little short. 9cm or 8.5cm makes no difference IMO. Maybe I need to wear it more often, because while it seems short, 58" isn't, really. Maybe I'm just rambling and need to buy some ties.

Agree with @Newcomer. I stick with 9cm ties as I usually wear jackets with larger lapels, a la Eidos x NMWA or Formosa.

I still have a few 8cm ties that I wear occasionally, but 9 times out of 10 when I go to pick a tie for the day I go with a 9cm.

8. I'm sorry to tell you this but I purchased a number of Bigi ties elsewhere because of the 9cm width. For most jackets I currently own. 8cm looks better proportionally and I believe this would apply to the majority of today's rtw. I love Bigi and tyt because they have great texture and unique colors/patterns.
For reference, I wear a tie every day and own between 40 and 50.

There aren't enough 9 cm tie options in the world. I can live with 8.5 if the shape of the blade isn't too tapered. I have to really like the fabric to get an 8 cm tie. I buy very few Drake's as a result. (TWSS jokes aside, I realize that a cm difference isn't that much, but it often does affect the shape of the blade, which affects the size and shape of the knot.)

This seems like more reason to have a place where you can get Bigi in 9cm; unless of course you're a business owner I suppose.
