I am beyond blown away that you could not reach these conclusions yourself. It borders on autistic the way StyFoDudes known how to button and hook their dress boots, put on a suit, tie, and fold a pocket square immaculately, yet can't tie their shoes when it comes to a woolen sweater. Did you burst out of the womb fully formed in a dinner jacket? Seriously. You asked "how do you wear this piece" for a sweater. It's not a "piece" -- it's literally a sweater, dude. No lateral thinking is required.

TLDR: Buy it, you'll like it. xoxo

Do you know how heavy the item is? It is in between a sweater and a jacket, and I am curious if people treat it as such since I just bought it.

I also don't know what a StyFoDude is but you have 1,929 posts in 3 years here which means you are on the site posting 2 - 3x per day so not sure what that says about you....

Honestly, your post added nothing to my question and yet you felt compelled to make a snarky response instead of just moving on with your life.

That probably made you feel good about yourself for 2 seconds, and then you compensated for your post by responding with an over the top, BS response. "Did you burst out of the womb fully formed in a dinner jacket"? Not sure what that means either.

If you aren't going to respond in a normal manner, why even respond at all?

You own the sweater or will imminently own the sweater. You logged on to ask for guidance on whether it's safe to button.
It's a navy blue sweater, no carabiners, no BDSM hooks on it, no lacing mechanism. Literally the #2 pencil of sweaters. The white polo shirt of sweaters.
Standard protocol would suggest to at least try the sweater you own and determine how to proceed before calling tech support.
You buy a new printer. You should probably at least try it once before going to Amazon Askville to find out if it's going to shoot out really glossy pages or not.

If you just bought it online and want to burn off some of the rush of retail therapy, I totally grok you, but I think you're going about it the wrong way.

I feel compelled to add that my one-liner of a post was meant to snap you out of goofball thinking -- effectively saying, "It's a button up sweater! You're overthinking it!" Consider it the Zen koan approach. A sudden but abrupt rap on the shoulder through the computer screen. Analysis paralysis is a recurring theme here. Trolling is not intended -- sounds like some trauma from a past BBS.

Any chance of Esemplare making a return? I'm wearing that brushed green sweatshirt with the nylon ripstop today and it's the nicest sweatshirt I own.

Here are some pics from the interwebz for you :  you'll see it worn both snug and more relaxed for people with the same stats (different sizes) :

Yes, if the brand and designs get back on track, we'd be happy to bring it back

How do you wear this piece? Ever buttoned and do you later it? Or only wear it in the fall/spring with no outer layer?

Yeah, I wear it buttoned sometimes. In CA, this is the only outer layer I need. It's warm enough for even the coldest days here. Here's another recent shot that doesn't show much of the sweater, but what I wear it with.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Damn they weigh around 130 lbs? The cardigan on the first model on the right is that the same navy you carry? Seems more blue which I actually would prefer.

All of those are the same model as ours, but with different yarn colors or different buttons.   Ours is a deep navy, that one looks more denim blue

Greg, are the GRP sweaters as, uh, slim fitting as in the spring? I remember ordering a 4 that fit well in the chest but was way too tight around the midsection. Looks like you recommended sizing up yesterday, but would like to confirm.

Another vote of support for Esemplare.

What size you took for this one? XXL?

Notwithstanding all of the nonsense it elicited from the other poster, I thought your question was fair. I have the camel version. It wears quite warm, so I typically wear it open except for "cold" [bay area] days. It's also stretchy enough to later underneath and dress up and down. It is usually my only outer layer. I think I might pick up the navy one too.
