My journey began yesterday. ...and now my watch begins. For those in Canada what duties/custom charges were you hit with? I know for English shoes you get hit with 18% of the declared value plus provincial taxes on top of all that.

Are those TTS (a '32' is a true 32" or else?) or vanity factored?
And either way, I suppose the waistband allows slight adjustments?

They're a tad wider (1") at the waist than the tagged size but since they sit lower on the hips than trousers, you should consider that TTS.

A little bit of both as far as I understand. The US operations were dormant until the son of a friend of the original founders relaunched the business (including LB surf shops) about 6-7 years ago. The brand has been alive through its license holders in other parts of the world (Brazil, Europe...) though. The new owner wanted to bring LB back to its roots and ethos - they've been doing a nice job for a few seasons with good products and nice designs at affordable prices.

Thanks, Greg. Think my beer-fed belly might be thicker than my denims-asphyxiated hips. Wish there was a tagged 33 with 34" IRL. As always, sitting in between two chairs.

It's a board short... you can adjust the waist by pulling on the strings a bit more and moving the scratch a little. I don't think there is such a thing as not finding your size for swim trunks

I only get hit with 13% HST in Ontario.

The 18% applies not just to English shoes, but to any shoes not made in Canada or the US. But in each case that was for a package shipped via courier. I always specificy delivery by trackable post if given the option - and my success rate of have no duties OR taxes assessed is better than 80% when shipped by that method. Probably closer to 90%.
