Cantarelli isn't slept on, but I really like this one and don't think it's gotten as much attention as others.

Kopped. There's a bonus for actually buying something on your list, right?

Schneider stuff does look great. Dat hooded grey jacket ...

Arrived today. Fabric is like air. Fit is basically perfect. I just need to get the sleeve buttons sown on. Which is surprising because I got the grey birdseye in the same size and needed to get the waist nipped (and the sleeves are a touch longer).

I also used my Favorite Things code to grab the ts(s) navy dobby cotton hooded jacket. It's sweet. As advertised, it'll work for SW or MC. Needs a little pressing though!

There is always a sale going on.

Not to mention the retail prices are ~sale prices at other places.

Picked up the cantarelli gun check last night after having my eye on this for a long time. It is also my inaugural purchase from NMWA and hopefully not my last. Really excited to get this and put it in my rotation.

That boot is unreal.

I'm going to have to come in one day and see if any Vass will fit my wide feet.

Greg, any tips for maintaining a La Portegna portfolio? Even the slightest scratch removes the dark brown colour, revealing a tan colour. I love the darker brown, but if it keeps peeling away at this rate it'll be completely tan in a year.

I've had it for a couple of weeks now and it looks like I've owned it for 35 years. Is that how it's supposed to look?

Does NMWA sell the camel colored coat at the top of this page?

That sounds fantastic!

No but seriously, yes veg tan leather moves a lot and acquires folds, patina, scuffs and scratches in a very different manner from chrome tanned leather.

I'm concerned about your use of the terms "peeling away" here. There shouldn't be any layer of material peeling off from the surface. On veg tan and crust leather, scratches always bring out a lighter color. Then adding moisture always brings out darker color.

You can add conditioner to darken the leather or even oil if you really want to go much darker. Otherwise, enjoy the way the piece is moving and reflecting the way you use it. Every piece will look completely different based on the owner's use. I compared that to raw denim before - my fades won't look like your fades.

Thanks! I like a bit of patina, I just don't want my whole bag to become a uniform tan colour. There are one or two patches in the corners where it kind of looks like it's peeling, but it might just be a very deep/irregular scratches.
I'll try some conditioner to darken it. Would saphir renovateur work?

Vass can do G and H width (I'm an H width in F last and EEE in AE) so it could still be an option if we can get some of those preorders off the ground each season.

M Six,

I think it's more SW than MC, so pressing not nec. IMO. Here's a few variations of my take on it, shite photography and all:
