I just bought the corduroy donegal dinner jacket from CSC and it's awesome. Something I've never gotten though is a jacket with unfinished sleeves. I've been calling some tailors in the Philadelphia area where I live, and no one seems to have a machine to make workable cuffs. Any recommendations and/or are some of you just making nonfunctioning sleeves? Thanks guys.

The jacket is a great fit off the rack for me, btw. 36R, 154lbs and 6 foot. Sleeve length was good out of the box.

Hah, literally did the same thing last night (although I walked over and bought it in the store). They told me $55 for working button holes but I didn't think it was worth it. I think the jacket is really cool, but I'm not sure how much I'll wear it and if I do decide to sell it working button holes will limit the audience it'll appeal to (since they won't be able to change sleeve length by much).

I'm thinking I can pair it with some light grey wool pants, black shoes, and white button down for more formal stuff, but I'm not sure exactly what to wear it with for more casual events. Any idea what you're going to pair it with?

Haha yeah. My first reaction to getting it in the mail was "this is f***ing awesome." Second thought was "WTF am I going to wear with this?"

I was thinking a bit about it, though I didn't get a chance to pair stuff in person after I got the jacket last night. I was going to see if the jacket would pair naturally with a pair of midnight tuxedo pants I have and go from there. Otherwise, I was thinking grey or lighter brown wool pants and a white broadcloth shirt. Honestly, I have to take out a bunch of stuff and hold them next to each other. A donegal blue corduroy double breasted dinner jacket is a few degrees outside my usual comfort level.

I looked thru the panels Nick had posted 6 days ago as well for some inspiration, which just made me think I needed to buy more stuff, so I stopped. Here's a pic I'm not sure if you saw from CSC's look book if I remember correctly. Lemme know if you come up with something good so I can plagiarize it.

I ordered a few Eidos pieces from Bloomingdale's and the charcoal donegal workshirt and jacquard overshirt came it. I think they are great and a total steal at the sale prices. The donegal workshirt material is basically the same type of cloth another SF vendor calls "speckled chambray". Those shirts almost always sell out within a few days at full price ($100~$140-ish) after initial drop, so I'm not sure what's going on with these Eidos shirts making it to deep discount.

Wearing the donegal workshirt (not too visible) today under the field coat:

I've got another overshirt and the casentino bomber incoming. Can't wait!

They're terrible overall - from a consumer standpoint it's not bad because it probably leads to more sales. If they actually knew how to make stuff look good, I'm not so sure there would always be common sizes lingering at sales time.

How slim is the charcoal donegal workshirt? I'm concerned that it might run too slim or short. Which size did you get and was it TTS?

Thanks!

I had the same exact thought tweedy. For a company that markets itself as a one stop shop for all things fashion you would think they would know not to button that top button. It actually makes the jackets look like they don't fit - which I guess fits into the super slim profile companies have been pushing the last few years.

Hah I had the same thought walking out of the store, but I'm sure I'll be able to pull it off and look great whenever I wear it. It's definitely a bit outside my comfort zone, but I find that when I make those types of purchases I'm generally glad that I did. A jacket like this will never be mainstream, but I also don't think it'll even go out of style. I was talking to a friend of mine and she suggested donating money to to to a charity event with formal attire. Help people out AND look great!

Those are great pics, thanks for posting them! That's pretty much exactly what I was going to try out first (minus the scarf). I'll definitely share pics and ideas, I'd love to hear what you come up with as well.

P.S. what part of philly do you live in?

The shirt is actually not all that slim in my opinion. The hem is also pretty long. Longer than most of my other shirts, in fact. My shoulders measure 17.5" and my chest 39". I bought the 15.75/40 size and I'm happy with the fit. I dislike tight fitting shirts and this shirt is definitely not tight on me. The sleeves might be a tick long (I usually wear 34" sleeves) but not bad. Bloomingdale's appears to have a good return policy, so you might just want to try it to see if it works for you. I ordered it without knowing if it'll work, but I'm really happy that I tried it.
