OK, I have made a real effort to do some research on the sizing of these boots, but I am still confused. There is much discussion of the 2030 last and comparisons to Barrie and Trubalance. The idea seems to be that we should go down 1/2 size from true US size, as for those Alden lasts. I, for example, am 9.5 US TTS, and wear Barrie 9.0 comfortably. So the suggestion would be for me to order 9.0. But these boots are listed as UK sized. In a UK I wear 8.5, or a full size smaller than my US size. I wear this for Trickers, for example, as well as other brands. Are we meant to order our Barrie/Tru-balance size, or our true UK size? Or do we correct our UK size? Sorry to be obtuse.

I think that you should order the same size as your Trubalance size, from what I understand of the posts above.

Cheers,

Fok.

that's my understanding as well from the help I got from others. I'm TTS 9 US and wear Alden Trubalance/Barrie in 8.5D US. With 2030 last I'm going to order 8.5 UK

From my understanding with what everyone has said so far in reagrds to sizing Barrie is 1/2 size smaller than TTS size and Trubalance is 1 size smaller than TTS.

UK size is 1 size smaller than US size.

Fok I think the lack of orders is because people are worried about getting the sizing right. Nobody wants to shell out so much money for poor fitting boots.

I think that that is a fair concern. The best way to know your size is probably to email morgan with your tracing. It's best to get someone to do it for you (my wife did mine). Perfect fit when that happened. (btw, Morgan is going to kill me for giving this advice. I'll have to send him some chocolates or something.)

barrie and trubalance are a similar fit so everyone sizes the same.

i contacted 4horsemen to see when they say take barrie/trubalance size do they mean the numerical value of same size or equivalent size in UK

will report back when i hear from them

FYI - "We would recommend getting a 8.5 in the Viberg 2030 last, they aren't technically UK sizes, but they fit narrower and with a slightly higher instep than the Alden Barrie/Trubalance lasts."

So whatever your barrie/trubalance size = viberg 2030, as in the same numerical value. you do not need to worry about conversion from uk to us sizing. cheers!

That is interesting but I am not 100% sure that I agree. I wear an 8D US in the Barrie and a 7.5UK in the Trickers 4497. The 4497 is supposed to fit similar to the 2030 in length but more narrow. The 4497 is roomy enough that I can wear a thin insole. I feel like if I went up to an 8UK in the 2030 it would be way too long for me. I am going to send a drawing to Viberg to confirm but I feel reasonably sure that the 7.5UK is correct for me

I would agree on getting the same size as you do on trubalance as a rule.

Rydenfan - 7.5 is correct as for trubalance you generally go down .5 from your Barrie size, at least that's what works for me and what others advised.

That's interesting Arizor, as for me Trubalance and Barrie are the same size.

And thus the eternal conundrum of the foot size; even when people wear the same size in one last/brand, they may wear a different size in another.

The problem with feet are threefold:

1) Everyone has a different shape.

2) Everyone has a different preference for the feel of the boot (I like it tight, but my friend literally demands a thumb space between toe and end of shoe).

3) Everyone wears different socks (for my Indys I wear dress socks, which means I could size down even further than 0.5 to a 9.5, but I'm really a 10 in Trubalance if I wear normal socks).

This sounds like the right course of action. If you like the way one fits, from what Morgan has said, the other will probably fit you fine.

I hope this is helpful on the sizing matter. It's my personal experience.

I'm typically a US8 in all sneakers (Nike, NB, Adidas etc.....). I wear 7D or 7E in the Barrie last. My true size is US7.5

Last year, when I was considering to custom the Viberg Oxford, I believed it should be UK6.5 but not 100% sure. So, I contacted Viberg & sent them my foot tracing. They confirmed that UK6.5 would be the right size. Hence, I proceed with the custom.

Then, the Oxford came. I tried it on. Size is fine even with fairly thick sock (I'm using Chup sock, may be it's considered medium thickness for winter seaon). But, I find the 2021 Vibram sole to be hard without much cushion. I wanted to put in a thin foam in-sole for better cushion & comfort, but, I cannot because it's too tight. Thus, I need a UK7 so that I can have the foam in-sole.

My conclusion & advice is, stay with your Barrie size ie. US7 = UK7 in Viberg or do your sizing from your true size and decide whether you want it to be snug or roomy.

Good advice Dino.

I've even went with a 10 in the 110 last 'Boondocker' boot on Morgan's advice (he also advised I size a 10 in the 2030 last and get the left boot stretched), should be here soon, I'll let you all know how it fits.

I believe the 110 is shorter but wider than the 2030. So we'll see!
