I feel like they were the intended audience. Watched a couple clips of the "comedians" in that presentation, and they're basically just trolling the libtards. The one guy walks on stage (you can hear it in the clip), and his intro is "Feminism is cancer." They're not exactly going to highbrow discussion there, riling up the overly sensitive types seemed like the whole point.

Maybe the female presenter was trying to be more serious, she's an intellectual of some sort instead of a comedian.

^ I may be wrong because it's recorded with some ancient phone but it seems to be Christina Hoff Sommers and Milo Yiannopulous(guy who says feminism is cancer, pretty sure it's his voice). I'm sure if we'd listen to whole discussion it would be most likely issue and fact based debate with occasional libtard trolling from Milo. I guess whole debate is a counter movement to SJWism and hence local SJWs and feminists send their cultists to heckle/disturb the event. So they are trolling them, not the intended audience, not that it makes a good discussion but it's most probably the case.

The person should be made the face of the SJW movement.

I jumped around through some of Milo's sections, and it was all libtard trolling. Even if you're in on the joke and want to make fun of SJWs, his shtick required there to be SJWs in the audience to mock. Odd dynamic.

What ideology does SJW and this brand of feminism fall under, anyway? It's not really mainstream liberal, it's not really progressive. It's pretty much an internet and college campus only movement, with little portions creeping into the mainstream.

The ideology of self-righteous attention-whoring.
There are probably a lot of reasons this dynamic is more prevalent on college campuses than elsewhere, but I'm pretty sure one of them is the natural tendency of college students to be deeply self-centered, self-righteous, and lacking in perspective. You take the novelty of finally feeling and sometimes being treated like an intellectual and physical adult, the sense of empowerment and purported maturity that comes (for many students at least) of moving out of your parents' house, creating your own social network, etc., the implied validation of your intelligence and worth that comes with being admitted to college generally or your specific college of choice, and the narrow-mindedness that comes from having little or no experience with having to make you way independently in a world filled with people of different experiences and mindsets - which is coupled with the sense of security of having lived your whole life in an environment where your basic needs will be provided for even if you act like a stupid ass most of the time. Heady stuff.

That and I have a feeling that most of these people didn't get any attention in their lives, or as much as their peers did at least. Which would make me feel a little sorry for them if they weren't so annoying

I guess. The better question might be why it's getting indulged on campus. An extension of the trend towards gutlessly pandering to students, or do a faculty really agree with this stuff? It's hard to believe that there could really be widespread agreement with shielding students from any and all negative emotions, but maybe I don't understand the modern college faculty outside of STEM.

Probably some of both. There are people here with far more direct knowledge and experience in the area than me, but my sense is that in the past several decades you've seen a new generation of management at colleges that view it more as a big money business and less bastion of cultural heritage and intellectual exploration. And there's a self-perpetuating tendency, because many faculty make the transition from student to professor without ever gaining significant life experience outside of academia, and thus many of the newer faculty have never really known any other model.

And because why would the average academic want to get caught up in that shit? Academia is bloodsport enough without getting thrown off your game by some fat faced cutter.

Personally I think this is just the culmination of trends/changes in the academy that started decades ago. The third wave feminism of the 1990s was the beginning of the end and I have to admit to chuckling when second wave feminists, or more moderate third wave feminists, get disinvited/protested on campuses or labelled as "hate speech" type people and accused of "triggering." Actually, it's not a chuckle; it's a full belly laugh but with a sad smile on my face. I mean when Germaine Greer gets blacklisted by the youngsters one knows we're about to head back to the monkeys.

However, they all have each other to blame in this. As with all children/young adults in a personality moratorium situation, it is up to functioning adults to set limits and (figuratively) give them a smack in the head when they get stupid. No one has had the balls to place limits on the nonsense and now the nonsense has no limits.

Nicely played.

Students are treated more like customers now, and the golden rule is the customer is always an asshole.
Well, students are customers. They pay the tuition. The problem is, they constantly forget that the product they are buying is the training to make sure you don't grow up to be a useless piece of shit.
This is another thing where everyone gets it wrong. The student is only part of "the customer." Society is the other part, but being more diffuse, does not get paid attention to.
