I really think that this particular slice of people spends so much more time thinking about the particulars of gender/sexual norms and classification that they really think everyone processes identity this way. Aside from the truly restrictive "you must be a manly man" bigots, the majority of this country is pretty accepting of a wide range of variation.
It's the women's studies/tumblr circlejerk problem. They've spent so much time analyzing and classifying the "problem" that they have to find something.
Yeah, see I get the "gender identity", "biological sex" and "sexual orientation" bits. Fair enough, makes sense to me.
But the "gender expression" scale does nothing other than emphasise stereotypes that honestly have nothing to do with masculinity and femininity.
The guy just had a whole fucking post about how I (I conclude I'm "masculine" because I play sport and i've never had a fucking girlfriend that actually turned out to not be my girlfriend [ummm fuck that's weird]) don't care about how I look and wear undershirts and smell.
It's actually offensive.
