That's the particularly stupid thing about it. Girls in high school are fully cued in to the meaning and connotation of their clothing choices. It's a stupid lesson to tell schools that they can't enforce any standards because "sexism."
Same with my feed. I didn't bother arguing with her, but at my high school, if I guy showed up in a wife beater or pants that sagged and revealed underwear, the same thing would happen.
This isn't new. In fact, I think it is stupid how much girls get away with at school in that regard. Girls used to wear short shorts or skirts and the male teachers wouldn't say anything for fear of getting accused of something (especially after a high school teacher in the district was actually convicted of sexual misconduct). There was one male teacher who didn't care and would always enforce it even against the cheerleaders/jocks/favored class and kicked a cheerleader out of final exams for a dress code violation. The principal did nothing but send her back to take exams.
There should be a clearly defined dress code (and I think uniforms are a good idea) that should be consistently enforced.
