I am asking this question because I see American news that portrays it as turning into more like North Korea or Nazi Germany everyday.

I'm 21 and this shit doesn't make me very hopeful for the future. IMO if the Libertarian Party doesn't gain some power in 2016, America is forever doomed.

Welcome to the Libertarian Party!

The bad news is we'll never win a national election.

The good news is that you're 21 so you can start drinking with the rest of us and drown your sorrow and disgust in alcohol!

It's really amazing how America is always facing critical turning points in its history right around the 21st birthday of the person making that observation.

So is everyone starving while nukes are getting built or are people getting rounded up en masse and their property getting seized?

What is in the media's self-interest to report? Also ask that when dealing with your college professors.

If the world ends, does that mean I can finally get on that canoe trip I've been wanting?

I'd like to add that I'm Canadian and going to trade school.

Also, should I kill myself now?

Kill yourself now. Canada is at least 30 years farther down the path to oblivion than the US is and Canada is just going to import an immigrant worker to do whatever it is you're in school to do far cheaper than you'll do it.

Harper is already doing that.

I picked a great time to be born.

I read somewhere that New Zealand is the least oppressive country in the world. I bet because they aren't giant dumbfucks and hate politicians.

Ah yes, a Harper hater. This explains much.

Explain please?

New Zealand is still pretty oppressive. The study you're referencing was done by a Canadian think tank so it measured freedom by Canadian standards, which as everyone knows, is not actually all that free.

Why don't you take a stab at it first?
