I'll give it a shot. I'm going to also switch to a EEE first and see if it still bows. If it does, theres no way I can do this last.
Typical progression...

1) Ask for advice
2) Get a response...but not the one that you want
3) Disregard advice. Do what you were planning to do from the beginning

That's not what happened but thank you. I was originally going to return them as defective, now I'm going to get fitted properly and mess with the sizes, which is what everyone suggested.

Why is everyone so arrogant with this crap? We're talking about shoes....

Hmmmm...very interesting. I'm hanging on to the Allen Edmonds band wagon by a thread....haha! Lasts?? Wrong size?? Come on guys. I say stay away from "seconds" and if you can't afford "firsts" (whatever that means) buy another brand. For the cost of these shoes I can't understand the issues I'm seeing. Bowing around the ankles...eyelets falling out....creases beyond the cap toe. I haven't had any issues with any of my "made in China" Cole Haan or other brands.

So I call customer service and I have to send my boots back to be evaluated because the eyelets are falling out after wearing them only three times.

Very disappointing. I'm just a consumer though.

I having an issue with my AE's that I just basically noticed. I always thought I had odd shaped ankles but now I think my shoes are bowing. You can see a couple pictures below. What should I do? Return them? If it develops with my Webgem McAllister in Chili, can they custom make a pair to replace them?

Yep! I received a pair like that once. Quality control has slipped a bit over the years at Allen Edmonds. Fit is hit and miss. Service is still first rate, and they are still willing to correct mistakes with no problem. That is the only reason I continue to purchase their shoes. That, and because I like the quality and looks. Mine didn't bow over time. I received mine that way. 1st quality. It was noticeable visually without trying them on. I don't know why they ever shipped.

No, I bought two other pairs in the same last that haven't been worn. It was a stupid move, I really wasn't pay attention to the issue at hand.

I've worn them at work but we switched over to casual wear so Park Avenues really don't fit the bill for that. I'm referring to the two other pairs that I just bought. I might try to experiment with my PA's to see if I can fix the issue. My money is on the lower heel of the shoe being pressed out. If I could get that stretched slightly it would probably significantly cut down on the amount of flare.

I suspect that is the issue because when my foot is off of the ground they fit like a glove, but when pressure is applied they flare.
I know this is a late response but I have the same problem, I got a pair of new trickers loafers. They came unlined which I didn't know when I ordered them as the website didn't mention.
When pressure is applied it flares and when I lift my feet of the ground the fit like a glove.

The shoe was very cheap and I doubt they will have any other sizes for me to exchange, and that's if the shops open anytime soon. I only paid 140 gbp for them so I may as well use a combination on tongue pads, and front half insoles or full length insoles. I'll test it and see.

My left foot is affected but my right foot is OK.

The shoes are a loafers and the length is too big onx the left foot, but from what I've been reading the side gap is either because my foot is too wide, or the shoes are too big which is why the side gaps are their.

How did you solve your problem?

This happens to me a lot, since my feet are wide-ish, and ankles somewhat narrow. Perhaps it's not so extreme, and definitely not noticeable when I stand, but whenever I'm walking and the heel hits the floor, the shoes sort of start flaring. Wearing inserts did not help much.

I hate to contribute to thread necromancy, but I am of the opinion that if the shoe fits your feet because it's comfortable, it's stylish, etc, then really don't worry about such a minor point.

No RTW shoe is going to be perfect.

Every shoe I have is SLIGHTLY off from the ideal of my feet, but that's the natural of RTW shoes. There's no getting around the fact that these are not going to PERFECTLY fit your feet.

Completely right, it's just that I wasn't aware of this problem at all until I accidentally glanced at my feet mid-walk while wearing a pair of brown derbies with a particularly drastic case of flaring. They are well-fitting in general, so it never occurred to me something like this could be an issue. Then I started noticing it in my other shoes, although it is not as prominent there.

In my opinion, this might take away something from the entire stylistic impression of the shoe, but now it sounds as if I am attributing it too much importance which I most certainly am not :) It just annoys me a bit and wanted to see if others have the same experience.

Also, belated apologies on my part as well for not letting the thread die of natural causes.
