Ring Jacket Japan - Page 26

To be honest, I am really looking at the fit of the suit jacket to translate it to a blazer or sportcoat. Clearly, the quality of the suit is fantastic. Here are my two issues. First, the shoulders are so relaxed that they create a downward sloping effect. I consider myself to have normal shoulders and I tend to stand erect. Is the sloping effect the "house" shoulder or do they have models with a little more structure? Also, this jacket is only partially lined and when I put it on with a dress shirt, tie and belt it showed every thing that was under the jacket. Shirt wrinkles, the belt buckle, etc. all showed through the jacket. I tried the jacket on with a t-shirt to compare and the fit was nice and smooth. As soon as it was with a dress shirt it showed wrinkles and stuff under it. Is this normal for ring or just an issue with the lack of lining combined with the light suit fabric? Anyone else experience this issue?

Thanks in advance for anyone's input.

Hi Tallcane -

It sounds like you tried on the 184 model, which has a more rounded chest and sloped shoulder. You may prefer the 253 (or 254 for a sport jacket). The shoulder on this model is still quite soft, but the overall effect is a bit less sloped and not as rounded as the 184. Hope that helps.

I'll be heading to Japan in about 2 months and want to check out Ring Jacket. Can anyone tell me about how much a base suit is there? Are there any single breasted overcoats for this season?

Ring Jacket's famous Harrington jacket with a mix of Drake's and Alden to spice it up.

can't tell you for sure, though I have the exact same one below

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NWT-RING-JACKET-HARRIS-TWEED-Gray-Speckled-Wool-Sport-Coat-Blazer-46-36-R-1260-/221925665954?hash=item33abcceca2:g:baIAAOSw~bFWMRA5

and that's AMJ03, if they can ask them to take the back side of the black tag, that will tell you which model it is on

Not sure if it's the cheapest of the cheap, but I saw the 184 model suits at the Ring Jacket store in Osaka (4th floor, Hankyu Men's department store) starting at ¥120,000. The Hankyu department store currently has a promotion where you can get a 5% discount coupon at the information desk on the 1st floor. The coupon is good for anything in the department store and lowers the price to ¥114,000. You'll have to pay an additional 8% consumption tax up front, but that amount can be refunded on the 1st floor if you're a foreigner in Japan.

Tweed is such a lovely fabric. A type of fall fabric that begs to be paired with other complimentary fabrics like flannel and shoes like brogues.

I really like the complexity of browns in that fabric. Very nice!
