"Dry Your Eyes" by The Streets used to make me tear up when I was mildly-to-moderately depressed, but I don't listen to music now.

Proud to be an American as performed by the US Army band.
+10.

"Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes by the FDNY honour guard comes to mind for me. Memories of my uncle's funeral after 9.11. It's amazing how this stuff doesn't fade even after 6 years.

I cried at Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. It was in the closing lines of "Only Love Can Break Your Heart," perhaps Neil Young's most heartwrenching song.

Funny coincidence: there was a thread on Metafilter today on the very same subject.

And I swear we've had this conversation here before, complete with someone bringing up Connie's kidney-punching hypocrisy, but I couldn't find it.

As I did say before, on the right occasion, the bluegrass version of Richard Thompson's "Vincent Black Lighting 1952," and Wilco's Mermaid Avenue version of Woody Guthrie's "Do You Remember the Mountain Bed."

He was a Captain for the FDNY in the north tower.

That's what inspired me to do volunteer work at the Baltimore Fire Department

That's a good one. Anyway, some of Beck's Sea Change, Ladies & Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space by Spiritualized, Deep Puddle Dynamics's June 26th, 1998.
