I disagree. Its not about not eating or even eating less. Its about eating healthier, IMO.

5 healthy meal per day is recommended to keep the metabolism going throughout the day.

It works. I lost 3" on my waist in 3 months by cutting carbs, eating 5 meals/day and intense HIIT style workouts (integrating weights) 2-3 times per week. My meals were mostly one lean protein plus two servings of greens.

Ultimately it's just math. Calorie intake needs to be less than calories consumed or else you will not lose weight. People that are obese need caloric restriction, even if it doesn't result in very low calorie intake.

Yep, here's a rule of thumb:

(bodyweight x 15) - 500 = How many calories to eat to lose 2 lbs per week.

That's a pretty good formula. A lot simpler than using activity factors and all that, but the numbers might be a little low for those with low body weight.
