I know. This car is seriously beautiful. I love the fact that it's chestnut brown, not red or black.

I just hope it attracts a larger bid than that hideous orange dodge or whatever it was.

I'd make that a daily driver.

What I would give to show up to school in that. I'm stuck with a Ford Explorer.

As recently as 2002, your "average" 250 Berlinetta Lusso was selling for somewhere in the neighborhood of $145,000 to $160,000. In December of that year, Seppi (Jo) Siffert's car was auctioned by Bonham's in Gstaad, Switzerland. His unrestored example, shown below left, in a pretty pewter color fetched nearly $265,000 before the buyer's premium was added. To command top dollar for these cars, full and unique provenance is absolutely necessary.

Since that time the low-end of Ferrari's earlier models has more than doubled in value at auction. The upper-end models have experienced very little gain in value.

The Lusso simply does not photograph very well. It shares too many lines with the visually unfortunate Ferrari Super America models. The Lusso has never been a big collector's car. It has always been a driver's car. That why both McQueen and Siffert purchased and drove the cars. Below right is a friend's Lusso restored for historic racing events.

Is it just me, or is it reminiscent of the Volvo 1800?

Saw it in person last week as Christie's is a half block from my office. Took a few cell phone pictures which I've been drooling over.

The car is magnificent, I don't think I've ever seen a brown Ferrari before.

I wouldn't trust you with a car like that.

He won't drive it, he'll just cuddle with it
