Looking for a deep red or rich brown dress shirt

Thread Starter

Hi,

I have been searching for a high quality deep red(such as  maroon or wine red) or rich brown dress shirt all this while, and can't believe that I can't find a single one with my above average searching abilities :)

Wondering if any of you might have a suggestion. A little shine is also fine.

Just some additional information about my build if it is helpful to any of you to provide recommendations:

40" chest

31-32"waist

neck 15-15"

sleeve: 32"

Thanks

Neo

You probably can't find one because it's not a particularly useful garment and a lot of quality brands have no use for one. I'm assuming this shirt is intended to be worn very casually as it's even questionable to call it a proper dress shirt. Wearing the thing with a tie would just be a travesty.

What is your budget? If you're willing to pay for MTM, odds are you can find someone who has this sort of fabric. I believe I've seen something like what you're describing in one of the Thomas Mason Silverline books and you can probably find it in some other book as well.

you might need to have this made.
Yuo shouldn't have too much problem getting it made by a shirtmaker with a deep inventory or several fabric resources.

Just buy an inexpensive white shirt and dye it yourself. Works like a charm as long as the threads aren't synthetic.

Really? I thought deep red and brown tones would be awesome for evenings.

No. White is though.

No. If anything, white is best in the evening. Some go so far as to argue that a man should wear no other shirt color in the evening if he can help it. I'm not in that camp, but the contrast between a white shirt and dark suit looks great in the evening. Think about the rationale behind black tie and you can sort of see why white could be a better choice for evening events.

Find that shirt and throw a black tie and black jacket on over it. You could become the 6th member of the band Interpol!

MTM if you must.

Borrelli makes a brown shirt that's quite good, Shopthefinest stocks it.

For deep red, try yoox.com - and don't wear with a tie.
