WIth regards to your second question, blake-stitched with calfskin uppers in the same ballpark as AE. Differences between blake-stitching and goodyear welting are somewhat exaggerated in my opinion, and I would go with whichever aesthetic you prefer.

I have two pair of the Lincoln's in dark brown and black. For the price the quality is good, they are good everyday boots and I can tell they will last a long time. Sure they are not in the same league as other brands but for regular everyday boots they work well. Here is a pic of the brown pair shines up.

I did a little research based on your post, and blake can let water in, but the blakes above have rubber soles so that should make them water tight? The other pair on top is goodyear but with leather soles.

Thanks for posting that picture. It makes it easier to decide what to buy when seeing how shoes age. I like how the bottom leather looks good, but why does the part that is laced look like the color has washed away? Is that to be expected of all boots?I have two pair of the Lincoln's in dark brown and black. I have both boots. The Dalton is by far the better one.
Thing about the Lincoln is that the leather is so bloody thin. And corrected grain, all that jazz. Almost feels like glove leather. Dalton isn't quite as sleek, but it will keep on running long after the To Boots are dead.
In short, I use the Lincoln for dress wear and the Dalton for everything else. I don't like putting To Boot in a position of stress, considering its durability. It's in its niche when you treat it like a soft-leather italian loafer, not like an actual boot.

that's a good description of the leather. i have that color & finish in a different style boot & it works well casually.
mine like for the burgundy undertone to be enhanced

Do you use any cream or wax on the upper portion or do you only polish the lower portion?
Do you think the Lincoln boot can be worn with wool pants and a sports coat or is it too casual a shoe? It would have to fill a few roles in the winter for me, not just a boot to wear with jeans. I assume they would look great with chinos.

Depends on the sportcoat and the overall aesthetic you're after. Rugged and tweedy? Sure. Refined and businesslike? Not so much. They're outdoorsy boots, so you can dress them up only so far before they become either unintentionally incongruous or a deliberate statement.

Agree with the above. I wear mine with jeans but they can also be worn with chinos or cords. They are to casual to be worn with wool pants in a business environment. I put a bit of saphir renovator on the upper and that's it.

Picked up a pair for 260 but I have mind to return them based on the inconsistency of the construction, since it's manufactured at different facilities. Is there any way to tell if the construction is of the better quality or not? The idea was to rock them as my every-day knockaround boots, but now I'm wondering if I'd be better off with a pair of AE Bayfields or Red Wings (rubber soul is required) thinking they'd put up with daily usage for longer. Below is a series of pictures of the pair I bought. Any comments would be appreciated.

Consider AE's Long Branch as well. Spending $260, you may as well go with something more durable.
AE Dalton's are also on sale through Nordstrom I think . . . but those have leather soles

Thanks. Yeah, I'd snap up the Daltons if they were a discrete rubber sole like the Lincoln, even though Ideally I don't want a wingtip. C'est la vie.
