Alright cool 👍

Hi guys,

Might seem a bit silly but I do need to voice my concerns  :uhoh:

As a student I've been long awaiting the day I could afford a pair of Achilles and that day has finally come. I'm quite satisfied with the overall quality but please tell me I'm not the only one put off by how long these seem. I went as small as I could with a UK9/EU43 but I still got that clown shoe feel lol. And now the only thing that I see is 3 meters of feet sticking out at the bottom of my legs ffs :censored:

Does the shoe get to look a bit wider with the wears as the leather distresses ?

I always find my shoes (10UK) look a bit ridiculous from the top looking down. Silly question, but have you looked at them in the mirror? Usually once I do that I realise they're fine.

Thanks for the advice mate, but for now nothings does it. Well I guess I'll just wait until I get used to it? If it keeps bothering me I'll just part with them and turn to alternatives for a minimalist sneaker, I'm thinking about MMM GATs or a SL/06. Quite surprisingly, the Rafdidas stans that I find bulky on pics online fit just perfectly, too bad they overdo it with the branding.

I agree with people on the decline of CP quality for the Achilles low. I can only speak for that shoe in the white leather. They used to be much softer and the leather was nicer. Not to mention they have gone up in price. I can't believe they retail for like 410ish now. I bought some new ones a year or two ago on sale and I couldn't believe how stiff they were and how the leather was thinner and less comfortable. I wore them maybe twice and sold them because the leather basically hurt my feet. The other day I had some in hand. White, navy and black leather. The navy and black leather pairs had noticeably softer leather than the white.

I have brown suede desert boots from like 6 Years ago though that are holding up great.

I second that. Although I was quite satisfied with the whole thing, it was more because of compromise, since it's hard to find something so simple with " alright " overall quality. The leather was not as good as I expected, quite stiff and thin. When I compare it to the full grain leather on a bag I have there's simply no match, far from it. I'm talking about the SS16 CP's mind you.

Maybe older pairs of deadstock CPs (if such a thing exsists) will become sought after because of "Leathergate".

Paul Smith Basso trainers which use the same sole (probably made in the same factory) use a much softer Nappa leather, they have a wider fit and have a lot more cushioning around the inside of the ankle. I just wish they had produced them in a completely off-white design - I really disliked the black heel detail, although I'm sure some will love it. Be warned they come a range of crazy colours and prints - typical of the Paul Smith mantra "Classic with a Twist".

leather quality depends on the make and model...I wouldn't say they've "declined" and I've worn them since they launched

Looks awesome, very tempted to purchase. Any chance these might hit a sale? I'm sure ordering to Canada will get me dinged very hard w/ customs.

Last time I ordered tan chelseas from End I got hit with $100 in fees but it still worked out to well under retail since most Canadian retailers charge around 700-800 for the Chelsea's.

any sizing advice for  Wings+Horns hi-tops compared to CP Achilles? I'm a 43 in the lows and mids, and a 42 in the Bballs

Cool, thanks! Did you size your Chelseas the same as achilles? 10% off with a new signup, might as well just pull the trigger on these! Wanted a pair for a while and the new tobacco colorway is awesome.

Yup, I sized the same as my Achilles lows. I pulled the trigger as well, won't find a better price in Canada.

Congrats! I'm stoked to get em. It looks like stock is going fast for most sizes too. Glad I got a 42.

They actually seem like a really cheap pricepoint compared to other websites and grailed.
