I did order a pair of B-Ball recently - I went for the same size as my Archilles (44 UK 10), they fit wider and measure at least 1cm longer, I can't say a 43 would of fitted better, but I can say the size 10 felt to loose and they went back. Now if you recommend sizing down on BBalls I would say that is probably good advice, altohugh I am yet to confirm this, but I would not recommend anyone sizes down in Archilles, I am a UK 9.5 which is a 43.5, sizing down means I go down just half a size, but absolutely no chance they fit me without murdering my feet. Archilles use very firm leather, not the sort of leather that will give and break in easily. I agree that the highs fit slightly looser, so much so that I sent mine back.

I can't comment on CP quality getting worse over the years but it does not surprise me, but I don't feel you get fair value at full retail - based on the the quality of the leather they should retail some where between £160 to £180, but that's never going to happen so they are a discount purchase for me.

@ursman in London I have only found CPs to try on in Dover Street Market, although the brand is hugely popular the main retailers are online here. I don't see why Italian sizing should have any effect over how you size the shoe, it really makes no difference. All that is important is do the shoes fit small. large or TTS. And here I can only agree with Roygbivuxg CPs Archilles FIT TTS (TRUE TO SIZE) - DO NOT SIZE DOWN unless you want to MURDER YOUR FEET.

I'm glad you brought this up.  Because CP is sized in Italian sizing - it does NOT equate to regular EU sizing.  So... a CP 39 is NOT an EU 39.  I know we have pages and pages of posts here... but we discussed this a ways back.

And, again, YMMV.  I know a bunch of us sized down on a number of CPs... Achilles, Bballs, Chelseas.  The moral here is - I would definitely not size up  :)

I'm a 42 in Achilles & Mids, so I'll probably stick with that size for them.

At this point you'd be doing well to find them, full stop.

re: sizing - I think part of the discrepancy in sizing up/down may come from CP's own scaling. For example, larger sizes may fit closer to TTS vs smaller sizes will fit larger...who knows

re: quality -- TBH the most obvious low quality CP leathers I've handled were all white smooth leathers--achilles and bballs. The colored models that have passed through my hands (cream, ivory, black) are more acceptable for the price (more supple) but still not what they used to be. I dug up some pictures of my '09 achilles vs '15 achilles, both taken when new, just to give a comparison of the grain / lack of it. It's pretty obvious which is superior.

CP leather quality differs from pair to pair across their different models. I bought my first pair in '07 and the leather was like butter. They still have decent leather and the achilles raws from last year are still pretty plush.

rule of thumb on sizing is she down 1 size

So why are they sizing in EU if the sizing is not EU?

Totally agree mate, I would "definetely not size up", buy your regular size in Archilles, jury out Bballs and Archilles High, but IMO I'd sway to size down.

This was discussed before. Common Projects use ITALIAN sizing, which is different to EUROPEAN sizing. Most fashion sneakers use Italian sizing nowdays, come to think of it the only place I usually see European sizing is Nikes and Adidas.

eg/ US 12 = EU 46 = IT 45

There's just one problem with your hypothesis, EU and IT sizes are exactly the same. An EU 44 = an IT 44.

No it's not. Again, we went through this.

I don't know why people think I'm lying about this (or maybe it was also you who said I was wrong last time?).
And it's not a "hypothesis".

This is standard:

See how us12 = eu46, not 45 like it would in CP's?

Maybe because so many shoes are manufactured in italy now and Italy is "European" for all intents and purposes so they gave just been lumped together for convenience. Whatever it is, I don't give a fuck, I'm just stating what is easily discerned from looking at a pair of shoes and the accompanying sizing chart and taking advice from designers who produce their shoes in Italy (wings horns, CP's, OAMC) who have all said something to the effect of "we use Italian sizing so take the next size down from the European counterpart"

TL;DR - it's not the same, but It doesn't matter. Either the shit fits or it doesn't.

I'm technically a 44 or 45 in euro sizes and I wear a 43 in cp so yes cp does run a size large.

The problem is that Nike chart is completely wrong, maybe because it's an American company, who knows? But it is completely and utterly wrong. A UK 10 does not = a EU 45, never has done, a UK 10 is and always will be a EU 44. The Nike chart does not even use the correct abbreviation, what the hell is ER? An American drama series set in Chicago starring George Clooney!

it's not calculus...just go down 1 size
