The Official Common Projects F/W '13-'14 Thread - Page 16

are Achilles (Originals)  lows sized the same way as the mids? I have mids in 43 that fit me well (42 was too snug), but also a pair of Achilles Vintage lows in 42 that is perfect.

So my size 40 Vintage Highs came in today:

Kinda irked by the fact that the right shoe has a slanted stamp, but whatever, I guess that makes it unique. Same shoe also had a loose thread in the front along the sole - these are my first foray into "lux" shoes, so I'm kinda disappointed that small things like this can still happen, but I guess that CP isn't in the same tier as other brands? Either that or I'm just being a pedant.

Included a side-by-side comparison to show the size difference between two sizes one size apart (41 vs. 40) for any other newbs (like myself) who'd like to see it visually demonstrated. Also, don't know if anybody else ever wondered about the difference between the 1704 (41) and the 1661 (40) Vintage highs, but the leather that lines the interior of the 1704 is slightly lighter than the leather in the 1661 (I know that it might be hard to tell due to the poor lighting). It's the only perceivable difference that I can make out, anyway.

Haven't tried then on yet since it's late and I don't feel like re-doing the lacing.

Also, either CP changed the shape of the soles they used or my feet are getting fatter (probably the latter). CP training boots are too narrow, and now I get to deal with the awesomeness of returning a large and expensive package to Canada. confused.gif
From a different thread and a couple of days ago...

I got a pair of the training boots from Ssense as well. Black in size 44.

The sole appears slightly thinner in height, but it fits the same as 44's from several years ago and even ones from SS14. I'm basing that on 4 pairs of CP's with that sole, besides the training boots, and one pair of Buttero's.

Throwing up between EU41 and EU42. Using Allen Edmonds shoe fit guide, my size reads as 8.5-9 E (W8) though upon further consideration, its actually closer to 8.5.

The slanted number is extremely common. On earlier models, it wasn't as prevalent, but lately it seems almost the rule.

Is this thread still active? I was looking for my first pair of common projects. I'm a 7-7.5 in nikes and I tried on a sz 39 CP and it was too long. Will sizing down to 38 be too small? Any current sales for smaller sizes? I know 38's are hard to come by.

Noob question:
Should I treat derby shines with anything?
Was thinking of using some Montana pine pitch that I've used on black leather boots with good success (doesn't alter colour at all) but don't know what affect it would have on the "shine" of the derby or if common practice is to just treat them like sneakers.

Conditioner helps the break in process as it keeps the leather supple, prevents the leather from drying up and cracking. But unlike dress shoes I don't apply polish.
