What leather is that? Might be my eyes but it looks a bit thinner and with a shinier finish than what I'm used to seeing.

Calf leather, it's quite thick, and I did a lot of polishing.

did you decide on that last shape? I think that's the main issue with them. not sure if they can be coached into something a bit more modern

they modified an existing last, they are more than 90 years old, so won't be any coaching.
