Here's an outfit that I tried a month or two ago, after a discussion in the Australian Members' thread about wearing grey odd jackets.

I usually wear the jacket with a white OCBD shirt, a knit tie and blue trousers, but I decided that I would try something a bit different and a little bit monochromatic.

The outfit in the (rather bad) photos consists of a pair of charcoal grey flannel trousers, indigo chambray shirt, mid-grey herringbone weave odd jacket, brown cashmere tie and chestnut shoes.

Interestingly, when I've worn the grey jacket with the white shirt and dark blue trousers before, none of the women in my office have ever commented on my outfit, but when I wore the darker, rather monochromatic combination above, I received quite a few, totally unsolicited compliments.

Bad picture quality from iphone. Me in my charcoal mohair odd jacket. They look to formal and this is the only look I figured ok so far. I only wear it for summer weddings

The weather was actually better than promised here today, so I decided to go with white chinos with the grey flannel jacket to make it a more summer-appropriate outfit.

Weather has dropped the couple of degrees it needed to for me to tolerate a jacket & tie today:

Subscribed for finals.

First picture is by far the best with respect to color. Others are simply to show the bottom half of the outfit (white trousers, light brown shoes).
