Opinions please, how does this look?

Thread Starter

Hi everyone, hoping you all can help me out.

I recently purchased a suit at a store that specializes in made to measure suits. I work in a very conservative profession, so I asked for a traditional, conservative fit to the suit. I just picked up the suit and am not sure that I got what I asked for. The salesman at the store is emphatic that the suit fits exactly as it is supposed to and that it looks fantastic. I think it looks pretty terrible. However, I have never purchased a custom suit before and am far from being a fashion guru and could very well be wrong. I was hoping you all could chime in and give me your opinions. Also, the salesman says that the pulling around the button is because the suit is fully canvassed and that it will relax over time. Has anyone had that experience? Thanks in advance for the help.

You are correct. It looks terrible. Probably beyond alteration. But I'll let others more expert in
garment resurrection chime in. My only suggestion is that the salesman should be castrated
with a cutting shears without aid of anesthesia.

You should post this in the tailors thread which is for this exact question. Also read the very first post on what pictures to take so they  can give you the best advise.

It was to small at Ask Andy, it's still to small.

It's a horrible fit.

Take it back and get your money back.

I'm no expert, but it looks very, very bad to me. Sorry to say.

For the benefit of SF members please provide the name of this "custom clothing"
establishment so that it may be avoided. But wait until you have gotten any settlement
from them.

It is absolutely dreadful and the shop "that specializes in made to measure suits" has absolutely no clue as to what even the most crude MTM is about. The salesman is talking rubbish "that the pulling around the button is because the suit is fully canvassed and that it will relax over time". It should fit perfectly when first delivered. If he thinks that this "looks fantastic." then he should leave and collect garbage, he is palming customers off with it and so will recognise it.

It is worse than many of the things Indochino tries to pass off - it is that bad. Take it back, full refund then go somewhere else.

Name the shop for the benefit of others.

That one will have to be remade. The fit is not right at all. Does it even feel comfortable?

Comrade, I see you thirst for the old ways again, though I fail to see the corelation between the salesmans hands and his genitalia, unless the client had his balls fondled during the fitting, in which case and either way, surely you mean for his hands to be, shall we say, altered?

ebh2, welcome to Styleforum.
You have been cheated sir. I would recommend returning the suit and politely demanding a full cash refund. Bring witnesses with you. Keep us updated.
