All about Levi's - Page 7

I tried on a couple pair at Nordstrom, and am in between sizes. The 30 is a bit too snug and look so, and the 32" are just too baggy. I think a 31" would be ok, if I could find them, but 30" washed levi's usually fit me great.

The denim itself was not particularly impressive. It wasn't particularly soft, they didn't look that great they didn't fit great, like my non capital E levi's. The moral of the story is: don't go looking for so called premium denim just because it's supposed to be premium.

Reasons for the high price: made in the U.S.A., hand-stitched, much better hardware and construction than regular Levi's. Lastly, there's probably an element of Levi's assuming they can get away with charging $160, so they do.

Now, I didn't say they were worth that much, those are just a few reasons they are that much. They're alright jeans, but if you have $160 to spend on jeans, you could get something that will last you longer than a pair of Skinners. While I am quite impressed with the construction on mine, the denim is lackluster.

I've searched and whilst there is some good info it's not enough.

I don't see many pics of lvc around here, at least not in the WAYWT or pic threads.

I've finally decided to get a pair but can't decide which one. I know the 1933 and 1937 will both fit but I'm not digging the cinch. The 1955 and 1944 both look good but the 44 is a bit lightweight (10 oz) and the 1955 seems to have too a high rise (13"--13.5") and too small a leg opening (9").

My ideal fit would be a 36" waist with a 13.5" upper thigh, 10" opening and a 11.5"--12" rise. Is there an LVC model that fits this (or close enough) and is there anywhere to try on LVC in person?

Just got a pair of 507 and 501. So far so good. How long do these jeans usually last?

You can try on most LVC's in person at most retail stores. Where do you live? I could probably tell which stores carry them.

Yeah...what's the opening measurement on the 507's?
thanks-
8.5 inches on a 29. 9 inches on a size 34.

i heard the more recent LVC 1947 501s run 1 inch smaller in the waist (so a size 31 would have a 30" waist). is this still the case? i plan on ordering a pair off the levis site. thanks.

Adrian --

What's the difference between the 501 and 501XX that are sold in most department stores (JCP, Mervyn's, etc)? After an inside out inspection, the only thing that I can tell is that the 501 is made in the Dominican Republic and the 501XX are made in Mexico.

Thanks

Not quite sure about this at the moment. My store carries both the 501 and 501xx. I'll ask a manager next time I go into work.

Well, I tried on a pair of the 1947 501's a couple of days ago (and bought them) and they were true to size. Maybe you heard about them running smaller because they're unsanforized jeans so when they're washed, they shrink a bit more.

I realize the original question was asked months ago, but look at where they where made in.

From what I have seen the XX come from Mexico and the other 501's come from Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic or elsewhere, and if you look really close at the stitching on the XXs vs the other ones the XXs are stitched more times and more evenly and are just better.

I stated the same about origin in my question to Adrian. Interesting about the stitching though. I'll have to take a closer look.
