I have those dark 514's you're talking about. It looks like the 507's are totally distress-less, no? I'd like to try a pair on but dont think I can track down a live pair in these parts. I'm mostly concerned that they're gonna smash my nuts. I'm pretty slim, but have a some what athletic build so some times skinny jeans don't work (although the 514's are perfect). But actually, I'm mostly wondering if the opening on the bottom is smaller than their 527 bell bottoms? I just want something slight.

What'd you think of the opening?

yes these have no distressing whatsoever. These are possibly the most "dry/raw" looking jean thats prolly a rinse. If i get a chance i'll go measure the hem. what size were u thinkin of?

But anyway, these were on sale for 9.90 at the Chicago Levis store and looks like he actually removed the flasher which would have indicated that these are WOMENS 501. I saw these firsthand myself and the selvage is pink line. As for the red blank tab, i heard the blank tabs are "century" tabs meaning its the 100th tab which alerts the person whos overseeing the sewing of the tabs onto the jeans to change the ribbons. MIght be urban legend though

Now it makes sense. No wonder it's in such a small size and they don't fit. I obviously wasn't thinking when I bought them. Now I'm going to try to get my money back...

try chargeback? if you paid with paypal with credit card as ur funding source this is one way to get it back. I think paypal charges 10 bucks to the seller for being chargedback so if you talk to him nicely about a refund he might just give u a refund that way.

what are these 507's I see on Levi's site...are those new? Does anyone know how they fit? it says super skinny up top...oh just read the web site. It says its like 511's. Well, how do 511's fit? I own 514 and love the fit up top. Will my nuts be crushed with these? That's kind of a cool wash for $70. It says soft rigid though. That's like, one wash, right?

nun

Hey. It's good to see another Lincolnite on the forum.

I see that you've already had a few responses, but I'll give my 2 cents anyway. The 507's are new, and I don't really see that much of a difference between them and Skinners, except Skinners have a lower front rise. In my experience, 511's and 514's fit basically the same in the top block, it's below the knee that they really differ. Er go, the 507's should at least be similar to the 514's. Soft rigid is not washed. It means they tumbled them to soften them up.

Hope that helps.

yeh the color on the 507s rigid are REAL dark and even. NO sheen at all.

Hello. I'm a huge newbie here and I have a couple questions about the STF 501s.

So I read earlier on this thread that the inseam shrinks 2 sizes.

How much does the waist shrink?

Also, rigid raw is how I know they are raw/dry is that correct? Thanks.

There's been a little discussion on the skinners which I'd like to pick up on. I'm a little lost as to how they command a premium 'e' price. They're not raw, so you can't personalize them. On the other hand, they are not especially soft and comfortable unlike the other pairs of washed levi's I own. The quality of cotton doesn't seem to be especially; in fact, I saw eco cotton jeans at the levis store for about $40, which presumably has higher quality cotton.

What is the appeal of skinners? I tried them on, and while washed Levis 30's" fit like a glove, the skinners just didn't conform to my body. Despair.

If Levi's ever made a dry selvage 514...

skinners do come in raw/dry state. I own two actually. First one is the Levis Premium 525 Skinners from 2-3 years (maybe 4) ago in rigid. Second is the more recent levis Capital E Skinners in Rigid color. What size are you?

Skinners come in a distressed raw and an undistressed raw finish. They are tumbled, so they aren't stiff like other unwashed jeans.

Reasons for the high price: made in the U.S.A., hand-stitched, much better hardware and construction than regular Levi's. Lastly, there's probably an element of Levi's assuming they can get away with charging $160, so they do.

Now, I didn't say they were worth that much, those are just a few reasons they are that much. They're alright jeans, but if you have $160 to spend on jeans, you could get something that will last you longer than a pair of Skinners. While I am quite impressed with the construction on mine, the denim is lackluster.

I wear a 32x32 in 514's and an old pair of 527s. Levis is weird though. one time I remember I bought a cheap pair of 32x32's somewhere and the inseam was like, at least 1" shorter than my other pairs. If you you do find out what the opening is let me know. If it's slight enough I may just buy them on levis site knowing that the top is similar to the 514/511's.
I really just think that's a good wash for that price (although those 'scoop' style pockets are kinda goofy looking i think...).

Zach, thanks for the info. You are now my go-to for denim. I like to support the local crowd.
