LOAKE APPRECIATION & SHOE P0RN THREAD - Page 18

Gentlemen, I could need some help in sizing.
I am interested in a pair on the 026 last.

I own a pair of Alfred Sargent chelsea boots on the 89 last in UK6.5F which fits nicely.
A pair of Cheany on the 175 last in UK6.5F is too generous in the toe box and maybe even a hair too long.
Also I wear EU39.5 in Vass F last.

Would you guys go for UK6F or UK6.5F in the 026 last?

I'm having a hard time deciding between the Savoy and Buckingham shoe :/ The problem is they are pretty different for both being wingtips. Savoy is a bit understated with a simple brogue where the Buckingham has a bit more flair.

I'll be ordering them in black so I'm not sure if the Savoy will be too "understated" for the color.

Hm, 89 must be an old last from AS, can't find the last information on their site. If your feet is skinny and flat, I am leaning towards 6F, otherwise 6.5F, you can always slide in an insole.

Doesn't them being different make the choice easier, if you ordering them in black, I would go for the Savoy. As black is an understated colour, and there are no serrated edges on the broguing.

Do you have any idea what size I should go for with the Mayfair last? I'm a size 9D in AE's 333 last

either 8.5F or 8F, depends on your feet, you should contact your online vendors for sizing recommendations.

Anyone have the Loake Cornwall, any thoughts on the Duke last, how do you like it?

Seems to be similar to the C&J Highbury on the 348 last.

really depends on how the Duke Last fits your feet, it's a marginally narrow last, other than that, I like its design better than the Highbury.

How wide is the 026 G last? I'm usually a 10.5 EE in Allen Edmonds, do you recommend I go with a 9.5 or will it likely be too narrow?

Loake is half a size down, so a UK 10G, might be ok, I am US7E, and find 026G slight roomy in the toe.

I'm trying to determine the right size for the Pimlico Chukka.

In Allen Edmonds Jefferson/Rutledge  I have US 9.5

In the Rancourt loafers I have US 9.0

In Santoni oxfords I have US 9.5 and for loafers US 9.0

In C&J Granda loafers (348 last) I have UK 8.0, also for Tetbury I tried UK 8 was better than UK 8.5

I am 10.5 D or 10.5 E in AE, and I have the Pimlicos in 9.5. They are even a bit roomy in the toebox. I know Herring says to size down a half size, but I went a full size and I'm glad I did. I wonder if I could even fit into the 9.

I just got an email from Pediwear saying the Loake Savoy has been discontinued. Pediwear has a limited selection, Herrings seems to have more. Just an FYI for anyone on the fence about these shoes.

ah too bad the savoy is removed from the shelf. shog[1].gif

i love my loakes. i have the aldwych, the rugby, the knigthsbridge and the plimco ankle boots. frankly i must say i'm far more than satisfied with my loakes especially those on the capital last, if i were to compare with my cj and cheaney. two reasons why i'm so happy with my loakes. firstly the capital last is really made for me, seriously. secondly the 1880 leather is soft and break in just takes one day.

i notice there is a new last called the claridge in their 1880 series. anybody can give comparison and experience between the capital and the claridge? thinking of getting a pair of brogue wing tip the heston since the savoy is being discontinued. happy.gif

I just ordered a pair of Savoy's from Herrings so if you want them, they are still around. The sales guy I talked with at Herrings said that the Claridge and Capital lasts are pretty similar and to order the same size.
