LOAKE APPRECIATION & SHOE P0RN THREAD - Page 147

Very interesting thanks for sharing your experience.

Luckily I was able to try them on at the time and they fitted in my normal size. All my other Loakes are leather soles so I was wondering to change it up or go with something different, still got ages to decide. My Loake collection continues to grow I'm looking to add the Aldwych (Tan), Cannon (Brown Suede), Chester (Tan), Strand (Either Burgundy or Dark brown) and the Temple Loafer (Brown) only problem is which order do I get them in

I'd go for the Loake Chester in tan.  Mine have a rubber sole but I believe they also come with a leather sole option.http://www.bradshawandlloyd.com/loake-chester

They look great with jeans.

David,

Yes I could imagine so, I wear my tan Buckingham's with jeans so the Chester's would look similar but be more suited to the winter, I've got a Loake shop 2 minutes walk from my office so it's easy to try shoes on. Luckily also the last time I was in there they gave me a customer loyalty card so every 6 pairs I'm allowed to get another pair free :bounce2:

I know the shop and have cashed in my '6 pairs and get a pair free'!  Great people who know all about shoes!

Chester's do come in a leather sole version and I have them. I find that both tan Chesters and tan Buckingham's go well with jeans (as long as you don't try to wear both at the same time!)

I think it's a great thing to have for regular customers. You could always wear one of each since they do look similar and both being tan!

I have never understood why we only wear shoes in matched pairs. Why not one black brogue and a tan Oxford?

Well we could always start a new trend

Anyone check out the Redgraves in person?

I'm hung up between these and the Buckinghams. While I'll be wearing with dark slim denim mostly, the hold up on the derby is the red sole...

Well, there are some marked style differences between the two. The Buckinghams have the Adelaide styling around the lacing and are Oxfords. The Redgraves are Derbys and have  different broguing. However...I love Buckinghams so I am a bit biased. The Bucks will go with almost everything. I don't need to wear formal clothes, any more, but find the Buckinghams to be very versatile. I don't have direct experience of the Redgraves but they are really good looking shoes. My advice: buy both.

On reflection, I am not quite sure if the Bucks have Adelaide styling. Having just looked at my Bucks and my Strands (which really do have that styling), I am no longer completely sure on the issue. I do love the Buckinghams, though and have them in Tan and Mid Brown.

What colour did you go for?

I needed a pair of mid-brown shoes, so I went with Mahogany.... I'll post some pics when they arrive for anyone interested that doesn't own a pair ;)

Bucks arrived, beautiful shoes! I misspoke about the color, they are burnished brown not mahogany.

The burnished brown is a bit lighter then I expected, and pretty close to both my Loake Langdale (tan) and AE Walnut Daltons. Apparently the Chesters I bought recently are the same color, and I had thought they were mis-shipped, but this new pair confirms it. You can see this in an earlier post of mine. I'm fine with it though as they will darken up over time with some darker polish and probably patina nicely that way.

I like them much more then the Chesters in fit and in style personally (capital vs 024 last mainly), even for wear with slim denim. If the Chesters don't get too much wear, they will be on eBay quickly I think. I can certainly see wearing these more often ;)
