If your toes don't fill out the toe of the shoes, It's probable your feet don't work with the last the shoe is on (Capital).
There are posters who are more experienced with Loake shoes than me. I'd wait for answers from them.

Your instep is too high for those shoes. You need something wider.

If the ball of your feet is at the widest part of the shoe, then it is the right size for you, whether it fit or not is another story.

And no, you toes will not fill up to toe in dress shoes.

Don't overthink this. It's nearly impossible for us to tell you whether the shoes fit by looking at pictures. How do they feel?

IMO if those don't feel too tight and you felt it is okay, just keep the same size. Sizing down will make your shoes feel too tight. Sizing up may help you close the lacing better but the overall fit maybe too loose. Over time, the lacing will close better due to leather stretching but it won't close like a perfect oxford.

If it feels okay/comfortable/not too tight, just wear them and break them in.

I'm in the market for burgundy shoes and both the Strands and Herring Richmond seem like good bets. I'm leaning toward the Strand, but there seems to be a debate about whether they go with dark denim or not.

I was in the same position a few months back, trying to decide between burgundy Strands or burgundy Herring Richmonds. Got the Strands in the end, and coincidently I'm wearing them now, with some battered 501's.

I think the Richmonds would work better with more casual outfits and perhaps they are slightly more versatile, but the Strands are a lovely shoe.
I think I could end up with a pair of burgundy Richmonds in the future, though Sanders Belgrade longwings are looking a better bet.

I agree with you, Odradek, Loake Strands are beautiful shoes and I am happy wearing them with jeans. The burgundy ones are a spectacular colour.

Not hugely, just curious. Like Odradek, I'm leaning toward the Strand because they're bloody lovely! Think I'll go for the Richmonds in tan for more casual fits.

Just need to clear the summer holiday from the credit card first

The obvious solution is to get both!

Burgundy shoes go just fine with dark denim, you have to decide for yourself whether you like the combo or not.
